| Trying a Rear sway bar, that you all can do easily
I found this on Ebay. New HPI 86618 Sway Bar Set Baja 5SC SS 5B SS 5SC 5T 5B Flux 5B | eBay I've tried them before and there pretty stout. It has two plastic mounts that I think will mount to the 2 vertical holes in the chassis center of the rear shocks. You'll have to mak links and drill the trailing arm mounting holes but it should be a 30 minute job that gives those who want it a rear sway bar. I've ordered one and should have pics up when it arrives. |

The sway bar must have arrived Wednesday or Friday at the office. I've been in the field working overtime for the Holiday. So here are the parts laid out from the sway bar set I plan on using. It looks like the cage will keep the sway bar from falling out and the mounts included use a set screw to adjust room in the mount for the sway bar. I believe this is common amongst the 1/8 buggies and my Losi's. I could be wrong but I've seen it before. Hope to have in mounted up tonight and tested on Sunday. |

The under carriage mount, it's just rear of the shocks about .5 inches in the center of the cage. The sway bar can float back and forth but I doubt it will be an issue. The mounting screws screw up through the mount into the deans. No nuts just using the screws in the kit. The links needed a quick modification not in the package. A 4m 38 mm button head had the top cut off and the plastic ball ends screwed on. In needs to be about 55-65mm long as its limits the axles downward movement. (Not the upwared movement) I didn't see an issue for testing so I ran with it. The bottom screw and ball came in the kit. |

Any more tire lift and it starts to lift the rear tire. I'm sure under pressure it will increase this height but I'm looking forward to seeing it run.

Originally I installed the silver (light) sway bar, after a quick run down my driveway I swapped it out (3min tops) with the black middle strength sway bar. That was the ticket. It keeps the same articulation but really keeps it planted better. I have to say this made it a hole lot easier to handle and drive around. But that was a dark road lets see what happens when 5s meets daylight and posably snow!

Was not able to try dry ground today but it was a lot of fun on 5s in the snow and ice and a few onlookers came over to ask "what is that?". I hope to get it out tomorrow while I'm out and about.
