Nice, I hope they will come up with the entire rear cage too so the rear shocks can have a stiffer mount.

3 months here without a post...pretty quiet in XL town now lol. Anyways, my friend's new job has impacted our bashing quite a bit, but I have plans to take the XL back out for a test run at some new slate dumps with the new Pro-Line MX38 Badlands. Seems like Pro-Line answered my wishes to finally make a 7" 3.8 tire, and I think the huge lugs on the new Badlands will work awesome on the heavier rigs like the Summit, Yeti XL, AE Rival, etc. They're on pre-order from TH right now so I'll update whenever they come in and I get them on. |

Well I don't know what else I expected, these tires are fuarking huge. For one though, surprisingly, they are NOT as heavy as the Pitbulls to my surprise. They do come out over 400g per tire, but my guess is the rubber isn't as thick and possibly the wheel is a tad more lightweight than expected. Otherwise, I'm liking the new stance |

We are going to need some video please. I want to know what changes in handling there are. The side wall being shorter should help.

It kinda reminds me of the sand buggies that climb up the crazy hills.

Well the bad news is that my rear pinion bearing exploded and I had to tear it off with pliers in about 10 different pieces. It absorbed every bit of dirt since I got the XL so I give it a pass in this case. The bad news is that I also don't have that size on hand, but have every other bearing. Looks like the Summit put a jinx on the XL in order to get first dibs on the tires... Last edited by Sneetches; 10-15-2016 at 12:50 AM. |

The reduction is 4 to 1 in first and 1st My only issue was my servo endpoints... I've got a programmer now so hopefully that helps... The HR unit looks to be preprogramed with its own servo horn/linkage which makes it look like the ultimate choice The only down fall is the H/L gear component ... If look above and notice the little gear on the "stub" shaft .... yep that's another pin which compounds to gear play.... The Dhawk gear set is ONE piece / press fitted and also uses flanged thrush bearings ... but still.... I'd still probably opt for the HR unit and on size the pin . I put the rear pinion bearing in last night. Gonna have to see whenever I can get out now with the new tires, since mornings are now 30°F and I get home at dark...

Batteries charged, supposed to be 60s-70s this weekend without rain finally. Hopefully I can get some driving in, but I won't have my cameraman for any film so I'm debating whether to shoot any or not...

Got some driving in, I think these tires are definitely great. They were right at home on the dirt bike trails that my hill climbs are at, and I finally made the pictured hill climb with the Yeti XL cause of them. They do balloon a bit on 4S, but it works to the advantage that the lugs are huge and far spaced. The truck also felt a bit more planted on turns because of their width, I didn't find myself rolling over during turns, even on pavement testing. Overall, if you run in loose terrain a lot and want a more aggressive tire, I think these will do the trick. --- Now of course my fun ended for the day whenever I came cartwheeling down the hill climb there full speed and hit the hit the tree you see at the bottom left. It was a direct hit and I was certain something broke, and sure enough I broke my 2nd XXL shock shaft in the exact same spot the the other one broke. For the hit though, I expected far worse, and I have spare shocks since I had to buy some last time I busted a shock. |

Tzicul-Damn! Looks like that A-Arm exploded! Must've been a hell of an impact! Sneetches-That wheel/tire combo looks sick! Thanks for the report back! I'm still happy with my RB's but was eyeing that combo for my Kraton. |
