Most of the videos I've seen, the YXL looks like a bucking bronco or kicking borro. Should be placing my order for one next week some time, and ordering upgrades right now.

Sorry for later reponse, but in the rear I'm running the Red springs with 30 wt oil. The front LST2 shocks are totally stock and were tossed on just to get the truck running, no adjustments there. The rear axle kick is definitely a feature IMO, I might try going super soft just to test the rock-bouncing abilities a bit better. Also, I scoped out that new spot and will have to hit it up whenever I get the YXL fixed up.

It'll be a couple days before I check the truck out for fixing, I'm sick as hell for now so I should probably just order the new diff gears anyways.

So why didn't I get the Alu bulkhead? Weeeeell I would rather test my luck with the new spiral gears first considering I managed to go several months on the stock non-spiral gears. I would also rather test it that way considering this is Axial's proposed solution to the issue. I'll tear it down tonight or tomorrow to assess the damage.

I'm considering going back to the stock bulk head so I can use the new HD gears. I hate the thought of that since the dhawk bh wasn't cheap. I went back to stock in the slipper and driveshaft. Going back to stock on the bh will make me question my upgrade choices. I absolutely hate taking apart the front end of the YXL.

After hearing someone's HD gears didnt last, I would just run the dhawk and regular gears. Plenty of people have had good luck with the setup so far, just use good bearings.

I had read that too, but that's why I'm also gonna check the bearings and spacer, and possibly swap em out if needed.

Alright, so I got my hands on a set of CI foams finally (Thanks to SteveC6R!) My Pitbulls should be here tomorrow. Still haven't heard any feedback but, I'll have all my answers this weekend. We'll see how well they handle 6s...

Just an update for you guys. I headed out to a local spot with 84Yoda today and had my first chance to run the Pit Bull Rock Beasts with the CI foams. Zero ballooning and held up extremely well! This combo for high speed, wide open runs is the best I've had thus far. It is one of the best investments I've made so far with my YXL!

Yup, I can confirm it. Definitely going with pits and CI foams for sure now. Plus they look just badass.

My parts came in today, so I'll post an update. Needless to say my front diff was definitely in need to be replaced, I'll have to check the rear too.

I've eyeballed them. But that's 2 pounds just in wheels...never mind tires. If your XL is a slow runner they'll be ok. But if you are stockish speeds those will be very hard on diffs and bearings....I still want them though damn it!!

yeah. Kinda sucks our options aren't great for the bigger beadlock wheels. I LOVE the Vanquish Method wheels, but they are only 2.2's

To be fair, the Pro-Line F-11s are pretty close but they only have Traxxas Style beads.

I might work on the XL tonight but my Wraith's upgrades also came in. Won't be driving for a few days with 5°F temps and snow so I just want it to get warm again....

For those that have put the Dhawk spacer in could you fit shims with it? I couldn't fit a shim and still get the C clip on. Both are tight with no play, just wondering if that's normal. Tried to search but didn't see mention of shims going on just to use it.

Edit: found some threads where people didn't use any, 1, 2, 3...

Old gears yes shims are a MUST. New HD gears no unless you do the pinion mod on the new gears.

These are the old gears, not HD ones. I couldn't force the clip on even with one shim in. There wasn't enough room to seat it. I'll pop them back out but I don't see how I could fit and not have it too tight. There was zero play with the Dhawk spacer in.

The spacers you have maybe slightly larger than some. I noticed the same thing on rebuild of my front and rear diffs, the front required no shims and the rear only 1 shim. There both real smooth after 4 runs of 6s.

I just rebuilt my rear with dhawk spacer and used one 0.1mm and one 0.2mm shims. Plastic housing and old gears.

This was also with fast eddie bearings. I tried to force the clip on and couldn't get the bearing far enough back to let it seat. I'll take it back apart to double check but both set ups were the same.
