All electronics are build and engineered by humans - they are ALL inherently flawed. With that in mind, and taking it with a grain of salt, all have their advantages, disadvantages, flaws and errors. As long as you purchase a product specifically designed to handle the abuse you're going to toss at it, you shouldn't have any issues. If you do, contact that manufacturer and have them work it out with you.

Make no mistake about it, if you purchase on the advise of forum techies, ask those techies if they are going to handle the warrantee or give your money back if something goes wrong!!! CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY and as them what they recommend within their product line. If they tell you the wrong thing, its on them and they have the ability to make it right.

Hey so we have got 2 kit yeti xl with aftermarket aluminum parts, they are starting to look like show cars and something to hang on the shelf and not use but we all know that something so much fun will never sit on a shelf.

We are looking to run 6s for something more fun. We have a losi 1/8th scale buggy and they run on 4s lipo and even though they have enough power and are fun to ride my dad and I have both agreed to go to 6s for more fun.

So some questions
1. What is the best combo to run a 6s lipo yeti xl with?
2. What a good esc and motor made up combination?
3.what will we have the most fun bashing with?

Bumb..

Mamba monster X + sensored 1515 2200kv is a very good combo with tons of power, and fits without modifications. It seriously has so much power you can barely handle it 6s. And it is going to require quite a lot of upgrades to stay in one piece.

To my experience i'd highly recommend
+aluminum cases for transmission and front&rear.
+Probably BHB modded HD gears as well.
+Robinson Racing Yeti slipper clutch seems to help a lot saving the driveline.
+Upgraded rear driveshaft
+Upgraded bearings
+Good quality wiring and plugs
+Good quality batteries
+Some extra cooling for esc and motor, at least if your YXL is double the original RTR weight due to all the upgrades.

With all that, I'm pretty sure you won't be looking for more power any time soon.

Yes, I use that Castle combo for 1/8 Yeti XL.
Both sensored and sensorless 1515 2200kv motors are good, but sensored is smoother and also has even a little bit more power.

Please note, that there is a recommended weight limit for the mamba monster x esc, and if you want to stay on the safe side pay attention to added weight with all the modifications. Going heavier means you really need to pay attention to battery/wires/plugs quality, maybe cappack, proper cooling, gearing.

Of course you can always choose to get the bigger mamba xlx esc, but I haven't found out it would be necessary. And the xlx isn't waterproof, and of course it's more expensive.

And one more little thing,

Tires&wheels....

Yeti XL has a rather large diameter tires, similar to 1/5 scale. Those upgraded heavy alloy wheels and some heavy mudslingers really require A LOT more from electronics and driveline. The stock kit wheel/tire combo is about 420-440grams /piece, and with alloy wheels and heavy rubber it's easily 600-700grams. That is a lot of extra rotating mass. I tried a tire/wheel set that was 690g, and sold them after one pack, the effect on high speed performance, esc/motor temps etc. was huge.

IMHO the stock tires with some proline wheels and crawler innovations foams is a rather nice setup.

Okay thanks for the information.

Some questions.
So we talked to one of the workers at the rc car shop and he was saying that the 2650 with the momba monster will allow more power and less towark, then the 2200 with the momba monster x.

1. What combonation do you suggest for a 6s lipo 1/8th scale?

2. What is the difference between the two 2650, and 2200 besides towrk?

3. What is a happy medium for giveing me enough power and twork for bashing and rock climbing?

4. Also I wasnt want to know about shock oil and what will help the car take the corners more easily?

Bump...

From the Castle Creations website:
2650:
1512-2650Kv: Max Cells: 4s

1. mamba monster x with 1515 2200kv motor. For alternative I think TEKIN has some good options.
2. 2650 is max 4s
3. IMO 2200 has enough for every situation, but be sure to get the sensored version especially if you want it to work for crawling as well
4. Impossible to tell without knowing exactly your shocks, pistons, vehicle weight, weight balance...I use Losi lst shocks with the yellow(front) and (black) losi springs and 45wt oil. But it is for my setup and upgrades and personal taste for handling. Start with looking for all those shock setup guides in the internet. I don't think there's any other way than testing...
