NO you are reading it backwards. I went from 0% to 80% wich is a decrease. Basically no control to 80% control or 80% less punch.

Thanks for sharing. I actually thought it was the OPPOSITE. This is why I've always kind of run it at 50% (this is usually the recommended setting from what I've seen in my ESC setup tutorials). Maybe I can find some joy in the rig again, thanks!

More than happy to share. If I can keep 1 YXL owner from going through the frustration I went through figuring this thing out and send them straight to nothing but enjoyment and fun i have done my job.

I run 100% punch control and I make sure my slipper actually slips. My brakes are set at 50% but, I then dial it back on my DX4s so it slows down, no lock up of the wheels.

Doing some tuning today I discovered that on my last run, I rounded out a wheel (I knew I should have applied more thread lock on the last run). Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, put the tire in...nothing. Preheat again, tire in 15 min and the inside came off no problem. Outside was a bit tight so I forced it because I'm not going to let some punk ass tire front me. I ripped the tire!!!! Arrrgh. So instead of just buying two new Axial tires and rims. I'm thinking I need Mickey Thompson's with the Mt4 G3 wheels (early Christmas gift to the YXL). How are the wheels holding up for everyone? Has anyone used RIT dye on the "beads"? Would it be better to just spray them with Plastidip or truck bed liner? Truck bed liner wheels may look pretty cool. |

My hexes are still great........ but two of the wheels have become a little warped/wobbly from a few bad landings. I would get Proline F11 wheels. Those are TOUGH wheels.

I want the Pro Lines but it seems they are all a Traxxas style bead wich is way different from the Wild Peak or the BFG. I don't know how well the bead would hold so I haven't tried YET. I also have had a couple of the MT4 get wobbly or warped. Since I got the slipper and punch control figured out they are holding up great BUT it has rained almost every weekend for over a monthso I haven't had alot of fun lately.

I had mudslingers on F11 wheels. It's tough glueing up tires to that smooth edge but it works fine. Just take your time and make sure the edge of the tire is flush with the edge of the wheel. You can also narrow the F11 wheels a little. Just trim the inside edge up to the lip and sand smooth. Someone on here did it with some Tech 5 wheels or desperado wheels.

Wonder how the Mickey Thompson's would do on the Pro-Lines? I ended up finding another wheel and tire. I have more spare parts than I thought I did. At least it buys me some time to do some more research (ask you guys questions).

This turned into a punch control thread... which is VERY useful... But I put Rival wheels on my XL, and I really like the looks. They are a little smaller than the kit wheels, but still work great. ![]() You can get Chrome wheels and Black rings from the Kaiser as well. Didn't want to make a new thread, if looking for different wheels and tires! really look at this right now. I do want the dick cepek and pit bulls but i can't spend that kind of money just yet! How are the tires/wheels holding up if people are still running them?

Thanks for posting these. I have some Dick Cedek wheels and with the CI foams the stock RTR tires really were tough/impossible to get the exterior bead to seat right. So I just got some Pit Bull Rockbeasts..... which have a much bigger bead. Which leaves me with 4 good stock RTR tires and no wheels. These will be perfect with some open cell foam and the stock tires for some lower speed "crawling" Nice to have an affordable option that doesnt suck and are beadlocks |
