| Yeti XL Steering issue
I just bought the Yeti XL RTR for my dad, we have several RC vehicles, but this one is our new favorite, however this thing has the turning radius of a dump truck, anyone have an idea why or what upgrade we can do to fix it?

Yup, dig around on this forum. Lots of good ideas. The RTR front end is made of soft flexible plastic attached to large heavy wheels, so stiffening it up helps steering. Here's a handful of ideas to get you started: > replace the stock servo with a very high torque servo and up your BEC voltage to the servo (if the servo supports it) > replace all the plastic front end links with metal > replace the steering assembly and servo link and arm with metal parts (e.g. GPM, dhawk, Hot Racing) > add a rear sway bar to reduce chassis torque roll and keep both front tires on the ground more often > adjust your servo end points Last edited by avted; 10-12-2015 at 10:04 PM. |

Get the Dhawk steering bellcrank on ebay first of all. The stock one is so damn soft its just silly , Next upgrade the stock servo. It is far too weak to throw those wheels, Esp at speed. A combo of weak servo, and soft bellcrank = dump truck turning radius.. Solid bellcrank + strong servo = ( I'm talking 400 oz is a good range to start looking.. I'm pushing ~ 350, and its still not quite enough IMO ) |

I've noticed the same thing with basically a stock RTR setup. What is a good servo option without breaking the bank?

You could order a couple Solar D772 ($23 for one) and have a spare for much less than any Hi-Tech, Futaba, or Savox. I a D772 for a spare. In my YXL, I have a Savox 2270. I have been very happy with it. I don't have much experience with the Solar D772 (just made sure it worked). I run a smaller Solar in my Mini 8ight and it has been great. The Mini 8ight is a bit lighter than the YXL.
