Custom Battery mounting

I ordered a bunch of 3s 5000MAH SPC batteries while they were on sale, I didn't check to make sure they would fit and just assumed. Low and behold they don't, neither do the 2s pro match racing batteries I have and it's miserable getting my 3s Flourian batteries in. I was wondering how much would it effect the chassis if I cut the top of the battery compartments off and attached the door permanently to make up for the missing material on top. I was thinking of adding some velcro straps to keep the batteries. Thoughts?

There was someone on this forum page that did just what you are talking about. I don't remember who. Said it worked pretty well. He may have added some stiffeners after the cut too. I want to say it was early summer when it was posted, but that's just a guess.
It is definitely do able.

Wich batteries did you buy? I use only SPC and have 3S 5000MAH and 5600MAH SOFT packs I use no problems. You might call Tom (owner) and talk to him about it. Great guy and company to deal with maybe he can help you out. They are VERY supportive of thier customers.
