Default High/Low Transmission

Axial does not seem to offer the 2 speed transmission for the Yeti XL yet, so I have been looking at getting the DHawk or the HR Racing high/low transmission to install in my kit. Does anybody have experience with either to know which is better? The HR has the wire actuator and that connects to the servo that seems like it might be faulty point in the system. What are your thoughts?

I've owned the DHAWK 2speed and it's amazing!! If you are able to adjust the endpoints of a servo it would be perfect. I noticed a couple differences between the two ... It really depends on how well the hr servo preforms..

Offered $60 for their Hot Racing 2 speed kit on eBay and remarkably they accepted! List price is almost $100!

BHB..... you should step up to a real transmitter. It would make controlling those beasts that you have way more enjoyable.

Looks like my wife didn't read the response carfully. They countered with $80 which was the final price. Still a good deal. And yes, from RC Express. Let me know what you got it for!

Did they go for 80? I got mine in the mail already! I'm excited to start my build. Just waiting for my V2 Dhawk bulkhead and my Modded Pinion and I'm ready to go!

I emailed Axial and this is the response,
"The two speed kit has not been released yet. Not quite sure when that date will come. I've been waiting on this for almost a year. Keep looking on axialracing.com for updates." Axial representative.
I hope Axial listens to us and decides to release the kit. Right now Dhawk is offering 15% off their kit. BHB says the Dhawk kit works so that is tempting. Are you guys that are trying the HR kit having good luck with it?

As long as you install a programable servo with direct linkage it will be good to go !! It's a pretty cool experience being able to grab gears it also allows for a wider variety of pinion options . That's why I was so intrigued to add a Sensored motor to the mix !

I said screw it and got the hr kit for $80. Seems like decent deal. Can't over think this stuff. It's only hobby and much of it is trial and error anyway. I just want to be able smoothly creep around with my unsensored 2200kv castle. It's mostly smooth now and I'm willing to bet dropping it into low gear will help the motor run a bit smoother when I need it.

Shifting gears in RC's is great, since I built my twin hammers and have been shifting on the fly every other machine has felt like it's been missing something.

The two speed will allow crawling without cogging yet still provide a great top speed!.
It's a awesome upgrade ! looking forward to seeing how the servo operates.

It does but the silicone spacers vulcanize quickly!! I noticed after 20+ runs it would miss shift... I'm actually programming a servo for 2speed I'm my Bomber XL.. I'll let you guys know how it goes.. I'm curious about the HR servo setup??? Oho and I added loctie to the pin retained by the o-ring for safe measures .

I'm not too worried about the servo. I have a futaba 4px that the only thing it won't let me adjust is my mother in laws attitude

Wouldn't be enough to program the servo's end points from the remote?
