Like many I have spun my hex and need new wheels. For now I am going to bake off the tires and reuse them, but I bought CI foam ..... I have been looking at the Dick Cepek plastic internal beads but the cap design and the RTR 8mm hex with nut combo looks to be a PITA so I would need to use adapters on the axles or go with new axles and hexs So.... I see the Axial plastic beadlocks are also available, but I have found little positive online about them and many people saying they cannot hold the bead on big tires and high speed or torque applications. So, should I swap the axles to the larger diameter bolt and get the Dick Cepek or is there another option that isnt $200 for wheels that I am missing. |

I got the Dick Cepek Beadlocks and I really like them because they hold the bead so well I never had an issue even on 6s top speed. As far as the cap design, its six screws per wheel. It can be a pain if you take the wheel on and off very often. I chose to leave them off. And to make it work on an RTR, i got: YEX10X02 |

Thanks. Okay and the plastic holds up at the hex, unlike the RTR wheels ?

Yeah it has and when I was researching I didn't read about anybody having problems with theirs. The Cepek's are a thermoplastic/ABS so they're pretty tough. I'm not sure what the Axial beadlocks are composed of but they have been plagued with problems. |

So rather than use adapters.... I think I am going to just swap the axles. I need to look at the manual to see if there is any other parts necessary to swap with the kit parts to get the bigger nuts |

okay, so I was able to get the adapters faster (still think ill swap the axles at somepoint) the adapters and wheels came today So now it is time to get the stock tires off the stock wheels. I hope to replace them when they wear out or tear I have the duaces wild foam that will go in them also. Looks like I will be up late tonight |

So I got it all done But after multiple tries the CI foam, Dick C internal beadlocks and stock RTR BFG tires are a PITA to work with as a combo. The CI foam is huge and I seem to have actually lost traction compared to the stock foam. I can spin the tires much easier on the same surfaces. And the front bead of the wheel is really small and the beads on the tires are not that big either. The rear bead seats well and holds but I keep having the front bead pull off. So I'll keep working st it. But I think I will be buying new RC4WD tires and maybe some cheap glue on wheels to throw the stock tires back on as spares. I'll give it another shot tonight. But I have already trimmed as much foam off that I want and still retain the ability to put a bigger tire on. |

okay i got the tires to seat and ran it 4s through a whole pack doing drift runs in some light sprinkler runoff and running through grass at full speed. Hard breaks and sliding around corners and the tires held the bead. I suspect I will just have have some tools with me when i run and at some point an outer bead will pop off. Ill run this setup until i tear a tire and then get some RC4WD tires that fit the beadlocks better. now tomorrow for some dirt runs and jumping and I just need to get my bomber to be a rock racer to keep up with the yeti ![]() |

I use the Dick Cepek wheels and the Mickey Thompson tires. They have worked flawlessly for me. ![]() Last edited by tphjill; 05-17-2017 at 05:18 PM. |

I have the Cepek, CI foams and Pitbull Rockbeasts. Great combo, no problems and the tires are very sticky.

Great that is helpful. So when I wear out the BFG RTR tires I'l have the right foam and wheels to just add tires. I just blew up my cheap servo so I ordered a Savox 1270 tg Some days I just want to play. But between my 3 mutlirotors and 2 trucks I feel like I work on them more than drive / fly them Thanks for the help guys |

I got the rockbeasts And after one pack they are pulling off the external bead Anyone have advice on how to mount the tire so the bead is more inside he external lip. Getting frustrated with these beadlocks. I have probably reseated the RTR tires 15 times in 3 weeeks. | |

So you have the Dick Cepek beadlocks, Pitbull Rockbeasts and the CI foams and the beads keep pulling out... I'm not quite sure why unless I saw it mounted but I have that exact setup and not a single problem on 6S. Are you sure your tightening down all six screws all the way down? Don't over tighten them because it's plastic but it should reach a firm stop. The retaining ring should be tighten down until it pretty much rests flush on the hub and the bead is sandwiched in between. Use a cross pattern as you tighten and it gets there no problem. Not sure if these views help but here are pics on how mine looked after install. ![]() ![]() |

Thanks. Yeah that is my setup Duces Wild foam, pitbull tires and Dick CP wheels. Mine look the same as yours mounted. Hmm I only had 1 pull apart today. So perhaps it was a bad seat I'll give it another shot before giving up on them. Anyone have a good suggestion for a wheel with beadlocks on both sides? |
