Discontinued?

On axial site the xl and xl kit say unavailable. On tower hobbies site it says discontinued. Anyone know anything about this? I was just getting ready to buy one.

Not too surprising to me, my guess is sales numbers were low enough at this point that it couldn't be justified to keep the platform running. Given that, there's still quite a bit of aftermarket inventory and Ebay specials available, so it's not really a shelf queen just yet. The platform does have several issues that need addressed off the bat so I'm not sure if you were getting the kit or RTR version.

Ordered the kit. Amazon had 2. Now it’s down to one. So it says. I would like to have got it from a hobby vendor, but oh well. I’m hoping I can atleast get a couple years of fun out of it for parts support. Super excited to build it and do some bashing with minor crawling. The better crawling is what my wraith is for.

At times i miss my xl, but other times not so much. The forums were kool and helpful when is was bustling but i feel it has run its course. I miss the look the most, had more than a few grand in it and sold it for pretty much next to nothing with ebay fees and basically enough parts to build an extra xl. Oh well on to so many other projects. We few cared more about the this truck than axial ever did.

Scx10 received a great update and Well, I’m a bit surprised the wraith has lasted so long without running it’s course like the yeti (if that is indeed the case) Wraith has had a number of variations as far as outward appearance, but same exact thing underneath. Maybe axial could have done theme/variations with the yeti. I think it makes sense for them to keep a high speed/muscle/basher in the lineup. But, that’s just me. I like all of it.

Maybe it’s just the xl and jr though, because the only one that’s not marked unavailable is the 1/10.

Last time I was at this place I was using 4s and I ran out of go go juice. I will return with 6S and clear the world....

After having my XL for a couple of years now, I've only run it a few times and wish I had gotten the 1/10th version. This thread has sparked my interest again so I think I'll pull out my boxes of parts and see about putting my XL back together again.

The xl really is badass. It’s brand new to me, so maybe I think it’s awesome more than most. There were some issues but overall this truck kicks butt.

It sure is a ton of fun to drive, just make sure if you're running 6S, you don't have anything solid you can run into. I had to rebuild the entire front end last year after a wreck, it was a real pain. I'll stick to running the yeti XL on the beaches or sand dunes along the coast.

I love my xl.. I run it nearly daily in the park next door.
Guess I better get my un necessary mods (rc4wd rear axle etc.) before the 3rd party companies run out of stock and decide not the continue the parts.

My kit is coming along well. I knew it’s size but now that I see it, wow this thing is big. So, quick question, and I know it’s not crawler related, but how long did axial make the score trophy truck. I was fully away from the hobby for a few years and completely missed the score. Almost missed the xl.

Saw the RTR version at a local hobby shop and just had to have one. Just placed an order for a kit while they're still available. Can't wait to get it and start building.

Sorry, not the score kit. The XL. There was someone that posted up a NIB score kit on rctech.net a few weeks ago. Not sure if that's still available though.

Ah, gotcha. Yea the kit xl is great. I’m making progress on mine slowly. I pretty much can only work on it weekend nights while the family is sleeping. Plenty of other stuff to do and take care of most of the other time. Also I’m waiting on my dhawk steering rack to move past that part of the build. But I built other parts in the meantime. Cage, shocks, chassis etc

I can definitely understand the limited time to work on the build. I've got a Tekno MT410 sitting here waiting to be completed and a a closet with about 10 helis and 10 cars/trucks yet to be built. Haven't even counted the number of Gundam model kits in the basement that I haven't gotten to yet.

This is my first build. I’ve only had my rtr wraith before this. I should do more like you but my other problem is I have too many other hobbies also. And a new baby my older son likes gundam models. I also do balsa planes.

Congrats on the new baby! I've got 8 and 10 year old daughters. Thought that when they got older I would have more time, but now I find myself driving them all over the place. I suffer from the same plight of having too many hobbies.
