Not talking SC. Why build a truck with IFS and lock it? It really all comes down to personel preference now don't it? Here's a good read: DrivingLine | Solid Axle vs. IFS in Ultra4: Why the Debate?
PS: "Starting Point" that I'm building and all my current Ultra's are straight axle. If I had some really great tires, maybe I'd see the difference . And what's with this? Was discussing not flamin'.

Do you plan on throwing some weight in the yeti and race trophy class with it?

I could also see some very cool engineering done by using this guys front differential if we could get our hands on any. But this is just a quick assumption on my part here. I know there would have to be a ton of reengineering done. I just think it would be very cool to see what some of the brains on here could pull off.

Yes, I have been lucky enough to be asked to drive for one of the top builders on RCC. I have full confidence that what he comes up with will be a contender, and I expect to run it with no locker.

As one of the main track designers at Glen Helen I guess I am confused at the comment about a properly designed track Matt.

My apologies, that was an over statement. I just can't imagine a fixed open diff at the JV Ultra 4 event (I could be wrong) I'm planning out 4 big tracks in our area and I'm sure one or two of them will be open diff worthy but at the same time I wouldn't expect to see one on the podium very often

If your changing the chassis is it still a yeti?

Locked or open the driver makes the difference.

Oh for sure it would depend on how technical the track is, and of course the big rock sections. Our last Layout at GH was very technical. our rocks are pretty big and the hill is really steep. Most people like it for the challenge, 1.9 trail class can be tough. If the track was any harder, that class may have issues. 1.9 trail is always a popular class. Just stuff to consider when building the tracks.

The way our rules are currently written the pan of the Yeti can be used. Based on the pictures, it is not that far off in shape and size to some of the existing 2.2 Trophy skids/pans. The fact that the class has an 8lb weight restriction should equalize the class to a point. It has so far.

The main priority in 2.2 Trophy class is scale appearance, if that can be achieved, and the car is not a runaway in the class, then all is well. I envision the Yeti being a platform that the racer can start with in stock form, upgrade if desired, and use the same platform through 3 classes.

The only way to find out is to build one.

Too bad there is no U4 interest on the east coast that I am aware of other than Florida.

I've got 3 and a Yeti on the way. So I play with myself for now.
Trying to get 2 local tracks onboard, but they are stuck in there ways and don't seem to want to change the program.

The Yeti's chassis and some of the design features is one of my favorite things about this rig.

And I also will be leaving the front diff open and putting in 500k diff fluid. I can't wait to spank guys with full lockers at the rock races/u4rc/terra cross events I go to with my Yeti.

Meh, I run my front spooled and overdriven.. Never have I had a lack of steering.. I could see having a lack of traction with the front open though..

I cant wait to get a Yeti to experiment with

Cool pics Badger
