Default Yeti spur gear

Hello all. Newbie here, picked up an yeti this weekend for my son and myself to play with. Lot of smiles & laughing, good time. Unfortunately we stripped the spur gear (ax31065). Local hobby shops do not have the parts in stock, online not much better. I'm looking for advice where to purchase spur gear & slipper pads (ax3106. I talked to Dereck at Axial customer support he said he would send one out when they get them in stock, might be September 15. Hate to wait that long, any suggestions are appreciated.

Seems they are shipping with the mesh too loose. I did the same thing, but was able to tighten up the mesh and keep running.

ebay has some, I just bought two of them.

Associated has a 62t (stock is 64t) that I think will work without any issues.

Rm25x. Thanks for the reply, I will check eBay. I thought parts would be easier to find. Guess the Yeti is still a little to new to have a large parts selection yet. I have the spur gear out, I might try to reinstall and adjust the mesh to keep running it until I get a new one.

I was able to get some from CKRC so that I would already have spares in route by time my Yeti gets across the pond.

I was watching one of Harley's videos, and he said that you should also buy a hardened pinion as well. The steel spur gear will eat up the stock pinion. I don't know where to find a hardened pinion gear though. But I haven't looked very hard either. Robinsons, maybe?

If your running the stock motor you will need a 5mm pinion be it a a Robinson Racing or Hot Racing pinion. RPP carries the Robinson Racing pinions.

Got mine on eBay after I chewed mine up running it in sand. Just search "32p 64tooth spur". Should pop right up.

I've done some reading on metal versus plastic spur gears. One camp says break the spur as kind if a transmission "fuse". Others say metal all the way. What are pros and cons on the yeti specifically. Is metal the best bet, or I'm I asking for trouble somewhere else?

I plan on sticking with plastic. Quieter and as long as the gear mesh is set right it will hold up well. The slipper clutch is designed to take the shock out of the system.

Just got an email, from eBay. The slipper pads I ordered last night got cancelled. Looks like I'll have 2 spur gears and no slipper pads. Has anyone made homemade slipper pads from a piece of thin leather, and glued them to the spur gear?

Just carefully pull them off the stripped out spur gear that is currently on the Yeti.

I have also used a 58 tooth Axial spur gear with great success.

I had stripped a gear out on the trail, for a temp fix I installed a random spur gear, using double sided tape instead of slipper pads.

Just an option for you guys, do what you have to do to get it back up and running! Tighten up the mesh and wait for a couple key upgrades to become available to fix the stripping woes.

Does anyone have anything other than a plastic motor mount in the works yet?

Axial has a machined one coming, it's listed in the manual on the option parts page. It's also listed on Towers website.

I didn't realize they were glued to the spur gear until I went to remove mine this morning

Also you can replace the plastic bushing the spur gear rides on with a 5x11 bearing to help the gear run more true.
