This has got to be one of them. Don't remember who came up with it, but fricken great! Remove servo saver spring, add 2 bearings, plus 4 shims to tighten chit up, and OMG, you'll crap your pants. This should only be done with HD servo! I searched threads and don't remember who should get the credit. Doesn't really matter cause it's for the good of the community. You know who you are! VP or Gearhead hubs with aluminum hexes. Gotta be with-in the top 3 for cheap upgrades.

Traxxas turnbuckles have to be in this list. Various part numbers work and even at full retail cheap and fully adjustable ($8/set). Not to mention what local shop doesn't stock traxxas stuff.

Replace the front plastic nuts that the inner hinge pins screw into with M3 lock nuts. You can pop them out of the chassis with a small screwdriver. While you're doing that, fill the diff housing with grease where it bolts to the chassis to keep dirt from getting in and causing havoc. Last edited by rm25x; 09-16-2014 at 03:57 PM. |

| Re: Top 10 Low Budget Fixes Excellent! This is a "must do" for everyone IMO. I used a dental pic, and popped them right out. Gettin' the M3 back in was a PITA. But that's always the case in that type of install. |

While I can't take credit for the idea but if your looking to gain some ride height in the front try some 90mm springs. I used Axial 2.25lb green 90mm springs, good for 3/4 inch to a 1 inch over the stock tide height in the front.

Now this may not be cheap to some kids who are complaining about loose screws and such, but put a decent RX / TX in it. I just bound my Futaba (had an extra receiver laying around), and the TX adjustments are phenomenal (obviously). Steering speed adjustments, fwd acceleration, end points, etc. really make a world a difference. And it's free. That stock equipment is real bare bones... |

Have an old scx stock link laying around....do yourself a favor and make this. Snaps/holds in place with body up or down, makes life under the hood (battery changes/what nots) oh so much better.

If using the stock ESC, upgrade the firmware. Not only is it cheap but also important. It reduces the tendency for the ESC to thermal going over very slow terrain. I'm going to try to get as much use out of the stock motor/ESC before I change to a Pro4 HD and RX8.

Locktight all 4 screws on wheels to avoid loosening them and then destroying the hub with the pin. Locktight all shafts pinscrews, I destroyed my rear shaft when it got loose. Locktight is a Yeti´s friend |
