I've had a lot of runs on my Yeti lately and i've bent the rear axle shafts left and right more than once. Will aluminum axle housings help me prevent bending shafts again?

I would love to see a slow mo vid of the amount of twist under load on the whole rig.

Actually no...to stop bending shafts you need to get better shafts. When mine become bent bad enough I care, I'll be talking to Creeperbob about his axles.

The GCM offers no more support than the stock set up or any of the VP's.

The shafts bend where they are cross drill for the hex pin, or at the threaded portion. Both happen more if you aren't constantly checking the tightness of the wheel nuts - but with happen anytime as well.

Not always tha case on where they bend. I bent one in the center on the long side. I just assumed it was due to flex under load in the lockout area.

Plastic definitely flexes, especially OCP.

That's the reason I went with the GCM centered pumpkin. Been beating the crap out of it. Until you hold one and assemble one, you have no idea how stout the GCM is. I'll put it up against anything out there, Curries, VP OCP, even plastic with beef tubes.

Wouldn't even be a fair fight.

I'm not a fan of the quality of a GCM, maybe its an old one, but a buddy has a front and rear on his wraith. Pumpkin is huge, link mounts and steering mounts are just extremely dated and needs much more to compete with the others. Also still has the same failure bearing on the pinion the VP's use and stock, which is the biggest problem on all things related to an Axial straight axle.

I'll put my plastic DLUX bearing OCP on my Yeti against anything - then again I'm an old school RC racer, I know how to drive, been doing it for decades now. Yet to bend a rear axle in a plastic OCP or VP AR60 other than the known weak spots - the threaded area and the pin hole.

I've traveled for RC racing, and RC Crawling for decades - I've been able to compare RC racers to RC Crawlers bashing and racing - there is a huge difference when you throw speed in

Nice call out? - seems like the previous poster called me out since I run Plastic AR60's modded with the 5x13 bearing fix.

Whoa fella! I wasn't calling nobody out, just a little good hearted back & forth about opinions on axles that's all.

When it comes to RC I don't take myself or my toy trucks too seriously.

I have GCM Axles front and rear on my U4 truck and they have held up well. Not super scale, but they are tough as nails. I also have gone through a couple of sets of Creeperbobs axles, they bent about 2mm past the hex pin. which surprised me.
I currently have the currie on my yeti, also with creeperbob axles, had a few issues initially with the VP tubes, but they were replaced under warranty, which was great, but it took almost a month. If you love metal and durability, go with GCM, if you
wanna go scale, go with VP, if you're on a budget, go with beeftubes.

I think the gcm looks scale. It's looks just like a Chevy 14bolt. Im sorry "but I know how to drive" seemed a bit cocky. I've raced moto for 25 years and the ones bragging about themselves are usually the guys stuck in the beginner class. A good pro doesn't say much. Im not here to hurt feelings so sorry.

All my point was aimed at was good driving means something to making parts last. If you drive into a curb, you will break things, simple as that.

Where can I get a gcm axle? Their website doesn't list them? Or am I looking at another GCM that does rc products!??

I have a Traxxas Slash with all the MIP driveshafts and testing it on the street i crashed it into a pole and one of the rear wheels got some serious wobble, after i checked the axle that goes into the hex it got bent, i bought a replacement part from MIP (10131) and when i received it it has a new design without a hole for the pin but keyed and with a steel hex:

Without a hole on it that should be pretty bulletproof

I'm going with a centered GCM with the 5x13 pinion bearing, along with some CREEPERBOB axle shafts. I broke my axle housing where the two bolts that hold the right trailing arm perch go through, took it off a jump and landed hard on the right rear and it snapped. With the GCM tubes, the big pinion bearing, and creeperbob axles it will be bomb proof!
