Yeti steering SUCKS!!! Suggestions?

So i just got my yeti and had it out for about 10 mins... The steering on this vehicle is really really really bad.
I just ordered some universals and I'm waiting like everyone else for VP to catch up to the demand for steering racks, anything else you all can suggest in the meantime or should I just burn it?

I got a servo on its way too..... and VP links...

Lock out the saver for now, its a great difference. Then dump the crap servo and start getting rid of plastic components. I put a 333oz in and its flexing everything.

Just replaced the links with vanquish today, took out 70% of the slop on my yeti. My hitec has blown out two servo horns in a row now though so that's on order.. Next upgrade will be the steering post. In order of importance of course

Suggestion... add bearings where there is bushing, add metal rod ends where there is plastic rod ends. Use 2 bearings and a washer to replace the spring in the steering lockout...

...and you can always make your own parts too. ;)

I did a lot to mine but it has great steering now and I'm very happy.

VP steering rack and double shear posts, Traxxas turnbuckles, Hitec 7950 and stretched the poop out of the servo saver spring.

Goes exactly where I want it to without a problem. "thumbsup"

I locked mine (Dude Rang coming to make it less janky) as well. Bent an Aluminum Servo Arm, but its a cheap too thin Servo Arm, can't blame locking it out, just wrong Arm to use.

I use primarily JR and ended up with a Savox for the Yeti, so I didn't have a good Arm to use.

So now I just spent the $$$ on all VP's steering upgrades, looks like a weekend in the garage.... Building, upgrading, and engineering.

A SAS will fix the steering.

I just replaced the bushings in the stock shear posts by some bearings, it was only a couple dollars and I bet it fells just as solid. The bushings are sooo sloppy, the bearing had to be press fitted in the unit and there is zero play now. The shear posts are almost completely filled by 2 long bolts and secured top and bottom, I doubt that a full metal unit is required.

I'd say, just buy bearings and save the $ for knuckles and other parts that matter more.

I am surprised to not hear about more people breaking the steering rack in the middle like I did.

It took me 5 minutes to smash it after I locked the servo saver, upgraded to steering metal everything combined with a 360 oz/in servo.

So build a Wraith?

The VP double sheer setup does take a lot of play out. I don't want to lock my servo saver, just make it more rigid.
