| How can we increase Yeti ground clearance?
I've been really enjoying the Yeti so far but can't help but wonder what it could be capable of with more ground clearance. I can see it's been set up to work well as a RTR being so low slung, but for a crawler biased setup it could benefit from lower gearing and more ground clearance. For now I have my rig set up with the rear shocks in the factory position and filled with 35 weight oil, for the front I have moved the lower shock mounts to the inside position on the arms and the outside position on the top. I'm also running trepadors on the stock wheels. With this current setup (without battery) the Yeti has 2 5/16" ground clearance at the center of the belly plate. What else could be done to get a little more clearance? I think about 2 3/4" would be perfect, what do you think? |

It's a U4 IFS truck...it's never gonna be the best crawler. That said my Berg 2.2 comp truck only gets 2-2.5" of ground clearance. My Wraith Class 3 crawls well (shocked me) and only has 2.5" of ground clearance. |

Tell that to Shannon Campbell, he doesn't seem to have an issue beating ass in an IFS rig at KOH or the SRRA/Ultra 4 challenges. That said, I'm a solid axle rig guy and I think i'm gonna enjoy the Yeti I ordered more than the scx10 I had. Eventually i think i'm gonna build a scaler to go along with the Yeti but the Jeep and AutoX car are in line to get upgraded.

Maybe put a spacer at the top of the springs. It will raise the CG as well , though. |

Try running a yellow 90mm spring with the adjuster backed all the way off, good for 3/4 to 1" more clearance. I did this and it made a big difference for me.

Ground clearance is measured from the lowest point on the truck which is surely the diff pan? Or atleast thats how it works on a 1:1. The only way ro gain more real ground clearance is bigger wheels/tyres.

AX30215 is what I used and my bad, it's a green rated spring. And this helped with ground clearance in the front which is where I was looking for it at.

Also he's racing KOH and U4 - not werock. There is a difference. Tires are a must - for 2.2 and crawling I've had best luck with the Pitbulls for a scale look. You'll also need foams from Crawler innovations.

Yeah u have to "crawl"it like a u4 rig and it does awesome. YouTube u4 or koh watch them and crawl like that. My rig does better than most the other 2.2 rigs in my club and we have some sweet rigs and good drivers. It's just a bit diff of a driving style.

And like AWraith said, it takes a little different driving style at times but it crawls pretty damn good. I've had it crawl things with ease that my Wraith would not. The thing that hurts it as a crawler is the belly pan but with a little different driving style you can overcome that for the most part. It does a little bit of everything very well and I enjoy the hell out of it!

I should have a Vanquish package showing up tomorrow with some sweet black trailing arms and rear links, I'm hoping I can get a little more height in the rear by playing with the shock mounting positions on them. Do you think there would be any benefit from changing the spring rate or length in the rear as well as the front? Any suggestions on which position to use on the trailing arm/rear link blocks to get more height while I'm working on the rear end?

Here's some advice from a Comp crawler, you don't want to stiffen anything to gain height, then it will crawl worse since nothing will flex. #1 Remove the sway bar - far too stiff for racing and even worse for crawling. #2 Get good tires, and taller ones. Increased ground clearance and without changing ride height. If you want the rear to have less traction, you run the rear uppers in the lowest setting. This is done to prevent driving with the rear and rolling over if that is an issue. |

They said in the beginning that they were going to have a 2 speed transmission in it. If this ever happens I would think that it would make it easier to crawl with. I also think that you will need a sensored brushless system to make it work right but I is not an electronic genius. What about 1 of the scx10 lift kits. Just my .02 cents. |

Remove sway bar. Install hpi 162mm savage shocks. The yeti has more articulation than my comp rig. |
