Default Running a steel spur gear?

So my spur gear went out and axial sent me a steel one. I am wondering how safe it is running this? Seems maybe it would put more stress on the tranny and stuff?

And do I add any grease on this spur gear since it is metal to metal?

so...you won't ever break that one. I've been running one in several of my crawlers, I like them because they are bullet proof, and no you don't need any grease. They are a bit noiser, but I don't care...

Use bar soap to quiet it down a little!

As said, you won't have to worry about stripping it out. They're all I use but you'll get varying opinions.

Make sure you have a quality hardened pinion

Yup..definite need.
Also don't run without a cover...metal spurs destroy outputs/idler gears if naked to elements(mainly pebbles do it)

Thanks for the reply guys, After 3 weeks of it being broke because spur gear the Yeti is running again. Drove it around the yard a little today and yeah i noticed the sound was different and louder lol. Hopefully it holds up awhile. I only run 2s batteries and have not upgraded the pinion yet but will keep a check on the stock one.
