| Basic upgrades?
Ok, I'll probably get beat down for this thread. I did search before posting. I'm considering buying a Yeti, but I would like to know what are the basic upgrades needed to make it somewhat durable. I'm not going to be jumping it off my house, or anything insane with it. I'm looking for the basic upgrades to make it fairly durable, for the time being. I'll probably start with the RTR motor and esc. I'm reading a lot of posts, where a lot of people are doing costly upgrades right off the bat. I'm looking for the necessary upgrades to keep it running while I work on getting the costly upgrades. Any input would be appreciated! |

Vp steering rack ,vp post , traxxas 77mm steering and drag rods and wheels. That's my opinion. I've done a lot to mine but I hill climb mostly and beat the crap out of it!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Leave the rtr motor and esc alone for a while. It makes plenty of power on 3s. Like Chapman said, steering rack, posts and a set of turnbuckles. I'd plan on replacing the rtr servo before the motor/esc. Also, proper hubs and hexes are an absolute must. First mod, hands down. Last edited by DeviledEggs; 01-05-2015 at 08:54 PM. |

I am looking forward to following this thread. I am planning a yeti kit build and am going to use a RTR ESC and Motor for the power system. I am trying to keep things simple to start out. I just want it to work and from what I have seen, the kit version will do that just fine unless you plan on abusing it.

Unless you plan on upgrading the servo I wouldn't worry too much about the steering. Once you upgrade the servo is when you'll notice all the weakness in the steering and as stated you'll want the VP double sheer steering kit, rack, bell cranks and front links of some kind. IMO you'll want a steel spur gear and trailing arms if you go with the RTR. Your RTR kit should come with the Axial hex kit in the box, if not give them a call and they'll send you one, so that should take care of your needs for a while. You'll figure out what else you'd like to do after you've beat on it a while.

On the subject of upgrading the servo. I am looking to do so in the near future and i like the Savox 2271SG. Is this a worthwhile upgrade or go better?

| Re: Basic upgrades? If your spending $100 on a servo, I would get a Hitec 7955tg. I've had no problems running these at 7.4v either.

I'm a fan of the 7954 Hitec servo. I use those in my 2 rigs. Sent from my modded TI-83 plus. |

I have Hitec 7954s in both my rigs, the 7955 is also good. With that said I recently put a Xpert RC WR-7701 in my XL and for all it offers at $100.00 you'll be hard pressed to beat it.

New shipment of HH servo's are in, with steel gear sets! I'm just getting ready to drop one in, for abuse testing! ;) |

| Re: Basic upgrades? I'd suggest that for a crawler (and one as big as the Yeti) you need more torque than speed. As such i went for the 2270SG, and I'm very pleased with its performance. I'd highly recommend it.
