the way it is wired, I would certainly say you could use a BEC to power it!!! Great call! I think I heard someone say as long as the radio has a 3rd channel it will work. Used as a neutral so you can rev the motor without going anywhere. |

I was reading on a traxxas forum and he had a standard 2-channel radio and it worked fine with the on board audio... Even though the traxxas system doesn't have different sounds, it put out mor than twice the volume! I can't even hear the electric motor over the on board audio!!!

I have the ESS in my Yeti. Fits nicely above the battery tray and under the body. It doesn't have any voltage regulation so you can run on 3S, but you need to watch the volume or it will blow the speaker out. The different available sounds make for a great setup. Depending on how quickly your rig accelerates you can play with the different sounds to match. My throttle curve has a bell in it so at half throttle I'm not going very fast. I found a sound file that works well with that. If you have a very steep slope throttle curve, there are several sounds that ramp up very quickly. Not being waterproof sucks, but I just watch what I do with it. You could wire in a bec to always have it at 8.4v or whatever. The default wiring is to fit in parallel to your esc/battery connection without having to solder anything. This is really nice if you want to take it out for water/snow runs. Just be sure you use an extension cable from your rx so you can plug/unplug outside the rx box. |
