Default Limiting straps?

Ok guys try not to turn this post into a brutal flaming ritual!

First off, no I did not search for this question in the directory, and I'm sure with enough time and diligence I could find the answer somewhere. But I'm hoping for someone out there to have mercy on my dumb ass and please explain:

what is the purpose of limiting straps when all suspensions I have seen seem to physically limit themselves?

And once explained is this an option that a basher and trail runner like mine would want or need?

Thanks for any help or advise in advance!

To limit the shocks from over extending and causing damage. Also helps to keep from pulling the plastic shock caps off.

I have some that are still in the wrapper if that tells you anything.

I saw a pic in the photo archive section and wondered the same thing. Thanks for the answer!

I first tried them out on my SCX10. They work like the 1:1 versions. I got them on most of my rigs. Good insurance to keep your shocks from ripping caps.

I'm glad someone asked.. I pretty much knew the answer, but see no reason to have them on an RC other than looks..

Doesn't the kit shocks come with a dual valve option? I thought that I read that somewhere. Dual valve meaning that on the compression stroke it would have something like 3 or 4 holes open but on the rebound it would only have 1 or 2 holes open. This would give a quick compression but slower rebound so less shock load to the cap and ends.

So if you go with aluminum shock caps sounds like you don't need straps.

I use them for decompression rebound as well as for rollovers.
You never know when you roll at speed or off a jump and land with opposing pressure on the tires. Cheap insurance and looks cool.

they limit travel too. sometimes the front end droops too much causing the dogbones to fall out. they help with violent roll overs too. plastic rod ends can tear free of the shock shaft easier than you think at high speed with big tires. i wont run my yeti without them

i only use them in the rear. i want the front to transfer as much to the back when accelerating. using straps up front limits weight transfer to the rear.
