Default So loud!

I bought a yeti used from a member and I tore the whole truck down replaced all the bearings it has a steel spur & pinion, all steel gears and it is so ungodly loud is that normal? The truck also has the Traxxas Velineon VXL-3s system. I didn't know if the spur & pinion could be bad .

Check motor bearings. Before I sold my RTR Yeti, the stock Vanguard motor was getting loud. My kit setup is so quiet.

Thanks bud! That makes sense. That's the only thing I haven't done.

Steel spur gears are most definitely louder, especially when bench testing, but when you are out ripping around it isn't so bad.

Be very ocd about spur/pinion mesh.
You want almost zero gap on the teeth.

I don't think that motor/esc is adequate for a Yeti. A Yeti is much heavier than what traxxas includes that system with. Just a thought.

This system came with my Yeti. I do want to upgrade. I definitely want brushless sensored. Probably a Castle system being that I have a castle link. What would you guys suggest & what pinion/ spur combo?

You could go with a MMP and a sensored motor of your choice. Castle doesn't make sensored motors.

After some looking, I think I may go with the Mamba Max Pro & Tekin 3000hd motor. I'm currently using a 64/14 spur & pinion. Any suggestions?

Exactly what I'm running.
Doesn't get hot.
Can even withstand the occasional bash on 4S!

The steel spur and pinion is definitely loud. I almost changed mine back when I went steel on both. Doesn't seem so loud after a couple weeks. Now I don't even notice it.
