Default Yeti gearing quetion. HELP!

Hey guys I have a question regarding gearing and motor options for my yeti. First off I have a sw3/5700kv motor with 16 tooth pinion & 64 tooth spur.
Running 2 cell lipos on it and my speed is pretty much where I want it to be (I wouldnt complain about getting more speed out of this combo either).
My issue is the combo getting very warm. Would it be better to play around with my gearing(if so what do you guys recommend) or get a mmp with a lower kv motor and run it on 3 cell lipos? (read somewhere that lower kv motors run cooler even on 3 cell lipo?)

Im a total noob when it comes to these go fast rc's, I've been running scale trucks for a while so any help will be greatly appreciated

Thx guys!

5700kv is pretty high. I'm a fan of lower KV motors with more voltage capabilities. I run a 2350kv on 3s or 4s.
With your combo, to start, I'd get a smaller pinion. I can't recall exactly, but I think you can fit a 12 tooth pinion with the 64t spur. There's a nifty spreadsheet from axial in the Yeti manual.
When you take your spur and divide it by the pinion (64 / 16) You want a number close to 5.
The lower the number, the more strain on the geartrain / motor. Too high a number and your motor will be working to hard and you'll be going slow.
5 is a good place to start.

A popular 4 pole motor that is less than $100 is the HobbyWing 3656sd. HOBBYWING North America — HOBBYWING North America
They have sensored (SD) and sensorless. I dont use sensorless in anything besides my light beater Traxxas cars.

Overall I'm happy with my Castle MMP and Turnigy 2350kv motor.

Find a sensored 550 brushless motor in the 2500-3000kv range and run on 3 to 4S. I run a 2500kv on 4S and the power is insane with 128 degree temps.

I'm on a 3000kv on 3 and 4s 15/64 and a Ssd 2 speed so a little taller high gear and I'm 140s on 4s running it hard. Make sure it's a 550 can also like stated above. http://www.rcjuice.com/skyrc-s-pro4-...tor-5d-3000kv/ Iv been running this bc I wanted to try something other than my pro4 hd. It's awesome and has a longer stator than the pro4 hd.
