Default Eliminator_ryan's Yeti Trophy truck build

Hey everyone I took this Yeti in on trade and the previous owner had starred by buying an sc8 body but never made it any further.

I had the dune t/a's already and had some Vanquish kmc 101's off of my wraith so i started to brain storm of an idea for a cage because the stock one did not suit the build. The nice part about owning a Hobby store is being able to see all the different products and after toying with the idea of building a custom cage SC8 cage was ordered to see how it would fit

After getting it the cage on I modified a bracket for the back so it flips up like the stock cage and I added some strc ear link mounts to extend the wheel base a bit to fit the body better.

After the body was all mocked up I made a front bumper to fit with the body and made a thin aluminum skid to get a template for when I make a proper one after mock-up. The bumper is mad out of 3/16 sold rod tig welded to steal trap that bolts up to the stock mounts.

For the back bumper I had to shorten the rear of the cage and make a mount plate for the spare tire and a place for me to weld the rear bumper too.

Now the hard part, deciding how to do the rear bumper. After many hours of google image searching trophy truck bumpers i dove right in and made the main hoop.

Then I added in all the bracing

Don't worry I have a matching spare on it's way.

Now that all the bumpers were done I was deciding on paint and thought i would let the truck do the taking and keep the paint simple. I used my favorite color FASKOLOR fastscent Blue with some black accents. I also airbrushed the grilles and headlights since i did not have any decals.

Now that it looks Pretty I will make it a monster inside, stay tuned for more

Now that is badass. I build real Baja trucks so this is my flavor right here. But since it has a-arms and your keeping the 4wd instead of trophy truck which are 2wd call it a Lucas oil pro4 truck.

Dude I might copy you in a black and green color scheme cause this shit is so dope.

Love it! I was trying to piece the cage together with the Yeti cage and a Dingo one in order to fit it under the SC8 body.... mine looks like a first grader's version compared to your awesome cage and bumpers! And I have the exact same color sitting here next to me... now I need to go a different route, so I don't look like a copy cat Great truck!

Thank-you, i posted this to help guys do this because i have guys coming to my store asking about this stuff and minus the bumpers its easy stuff to fit together.

Here are more pics of full droop and compression and I added some decals to make it look scale.

Helps a lot! I want to cut the windows of the body in order to show the cage, but the Yeti cage is too narrow really. Went ahead and ordered a cage right away. Thanks again! I saw you run twin shocks in the back? I might need stiffer springs as well since I want to load two tires on the back...
