Default Yeti kit rear dif. mesh

Putting together the rear diff. from the kit. I can't seem to dial in the mesh. When I cycle the pinion it moves free for about half cycle and then it gets harder to turn. Then it cycles free for another half cycle and then gets hard to turn again.

I've taken it apart and rebuilt it a couple of times and still get the same resistance. Is a little resistance in two spots "OK?" I've got the rear axle from my RTR Yeti to compare which seems to cycle with no resistance at all. Not sure if that's a fair comparison.

Should I be ok with the resistance or look for options? What are the options?

My Yeti RTR is my first hobby-quality RC and the kit is the first kit I've built so I'm learning as I go.

Stock r and p ? If it is the hardened od/ud gears they tend to do that, no worries. Just dont shim it overly tight and it will break in.

Yes using whatever stock parts provided directly out of the kit. I haven't done anything with shims. Should I try and shim it or run it and see if it will break in?

About 20 miles down 18 from you. Look up warcrc.net or nwscalerc the clubs hold monthly u4 races. Both clubs have web forums and FB pages. Of coarse nothing beats the info you will gather here

OK cool. Sounds like you are near Covington? I just moved here from SoCal.

I've been to the RC shop in Covington and bought some parts, got good advice, and signed the waiver to run on their U4 track. It's hard to get down there and give them my business but I'm planning on going in there whenever I'm down there to run on their track.

Hoping to get out and do the U4 races for sure.
