Beef tubes, lock outs, not getting along?

After I first installed beef tubes in my wraith a couple years ago I noticed that the ends of my lock outs where getting worn by the hexes at the axle end. With the wraith being a crawler/scaler it wasn't too big of a deal.

But! now that I have swapped from a VP axle and gone to a dlux big bearing housing and beef tubes in my yeti I'm having some severe wear at the axle ends.

This is the end of my lock out (both look like this.

In the past I have made a spacer for the wraith. I just used a bit of a broken allen wrench and ground it down to just the right size to go between the inboard ends of the axle shafts i.e:

Are there any more creative ways to cure this issue? When using beef tubes its a have to thing to loose most of the lip that would hold the axle shaft out of the center of the locker. I cant think of any other way to get them in the tubes.

This thing needs a full float dana 60 rear end!

Couldn't you shim the shaft out between the hex pin and bearing?

Then the bearing will slide inward. Thought about that too.

I know in my wraith i was having a "slop" issue after i ground that lip off the axle shafts to fit in the beef tube. What i did to fix it was cut a piece off of some junk carbon arrows i had laying around, it allows the axle to go through it. I put these spacer on the lockout side and it holds against the bearing and beef tube curred the slop issue right up.

I also am having this problem. Just ground down the lip to get it to fit in the tube but now I have play. I might try your spacer method or maybe bringing this thread back to the top we can get some more creative answers??
