6 volts is safe.
Do you have a servo that can handle more than 6v?

Yup, just de-pin the red wire coming from the ECS to the RX, DONT cut the red wire from the BEC leads. Most people cut and tape it up but I don't, reason being is if you ever want to go back to the esc powering the rx, well then your screwed. BEC will go into either battery and or any available channel. Hope this helps, Aloha!

The 1256 is rated for 6.0v.
I typically bypass the rx, and have the bec power the servo only, and let the esc power the rx. But either way works.

Just buy a short servo extension and cut the red wire on that, you can also buy a HH BEC bypass that will directly power the servo.

My first build i used a servo extension and then found the HH Bypass. Five builds later and i will never use anything else. So simple it's ridiculous.

I bought 2 of those bypass plugs when I ordered my HH540 and cc esc but I couldn't figure out how to use it so I just soldered the BEC to my battery wires and plugged it in to the receiver.

If you make a female to female connector, you can hook the Servo and BEC into that connector and simply remove the servo "signal" wire from it's pigtail and plug it directly into the receiver's servo signal pin.

What badhoopty said....easy way to remember is that the end with three wires plugs into the servo.
