Default Cooling stock esc & motor

hi all,
just been running my yeti in 2S with the massive proline super swamper XL 2.2" : the motor is very hot and the esc is rpetty hot, should I add fans before burning the yeti to the ground !
As anyone got the same issue or keeps running in the same conditions.

I was also thinking of changing the pinion to go faster, not good for the heat !

Might change the parameters in the ESC with the usb castle adapter, to lower the torque while starting.

You need to drop your pinion size down 3 or 4 teeth and check for binding. I always start at a 10t pinion and work up. If I run a full pack and temps are good I go to an 11 t and so on till it's 100 outside and my max temp is 140.

There is a thread about this. With stock tires they drop 2 teeth on the pinion. With the taller tires as already stated, may need to drop more.

if a drop a tooth on the pinion, the yeti's going to be running pretty slow for bashing !
It's not going very fast at the moment !

Easiest way to combat that, is to get a higher voltage battery.

I dropped to a 13t pinion and haven't had an issue since. Was told in another thread that axial tends to over gear the models. But I went down that far since I wasn't looking for speed. With the Ssd two speed it does just fine.

Yes, I'm talking about a 3s battery.
Higher voltage = more rpm = higher top speed = more fun

Search the electronics section for a bunch more info.

You may have other issues going on....can you post a video of your car and perhaps a snap shot of your esc settings from a computer (castle link screen)?

Ive been running on the RTR motor/esc on 3s for a while now without any heat issues. All stock esc settings. I do have an aluminum motor plate and a cheapo finned heatsink on the motor for peace of mind. I even moved down to a 56t spur/ 20 pinion.

Try a 3s pack. Even if you still need to drop a tooth or two on the pinion, it'll still be faster than 2s.

Take that Sensorless motor timing to 0, it will really lower the motor temps.
