| Finally - a 1/10 trophy truck built in the axial yeti
I always wanted a scale trophy truck but I dont have the skills, time and money like other guys who have build theirs from scratch. But I have a Yeti that has been sitting around for sometime. It has been waiting for the perfect parts to show up and I believe I found them. There are only a few simple modification to convert your Axial Yeti into a 1/10 Solid Axle trophy truck. There is more benefit to doing it this way since there already tons of aftermarket support on these parts I can replace any parts broken just like a yeti. Check It out. Part 1 video is up. I am going to build this one just like the red bull trophy as picture below. This is going to be a lot fun. Most of the parts used are spares parts I have sitting around. I only had to buy the trailing arms and upper links which costed less than $20 total. But I am listing all parts just so anyone who may be interested to do the same. Complete Parts List - This is truly a budget build if you already own a yeti with slash spare part sitting around Body: Pro-Line Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Clear Body Slash PROC3344 Wheels Front: Pro-Line ProTrac Susp Kit Renegade 2.2"/3.0" 2727-03 Wheels Rear: Pro-Line Renegade 2.2"/3.0" Black Wheels 2725-03 Wheel Hex: Axial Aluminum Hub Narrow 12mm Black (4) AX30427 Tires: Pro-Line Trencher SC 2.2"/3.0" M3 Tire Slash 1159-02 Body Post: Traxxas Body Mount Front Rear TRA1914R Rear Bumper: Traxxas Bumper Rear Slash 5836 Slash Turn Buckle Set (find on ebay) Rear Suspension: Twin Hammer Trailing Arms + Axial Wraith Upper LInks Axial Yeti Short Drive Shaft (Comes with the Kits in spare parts bag) 2/17/2016 Upgrade Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYmbijTXhk4 8/18 Beach Bashing Video https://youtu.be/F7RHsJ7EDuI 7/22 Track day video https://youtu.be/X_BOdvvqdr8 6/27/15 First Run Video Youtube Link https://youtu.be/E7NOZbJEqtU Youtube Video Link : https://youtu.be/u6AR_LteUd8 Last edited by joerc2013; 02-17-2016 at 09:11 AM. |

This is cool, never thought about the Yeti as a trophy truck but it's definitely a good platform.

Getting the rear bumper attached was a breeze , snap on and a few bolts will keep it secured. |

| Re: Finally - a 1/10 trophy truck built in the axial yeti Yes I got the front and back track width fully lined up ~195 front and 200 rear. You watch the full video I showed in there how it was done using different wheels with different offsets and what it compares to the 1/10 sct body.

Thanks for mentioning my rig I went larger with mine (looks actually humongeous to me) instead of downsizing it. I like your approach a lot better though - in fact it looks a lot easier and you have more body options too. I don't really like the shape of the SC8 and originally wanted a BJ Baldwin one like the awesome CyconXC built. I wanted to keep the method wheels on mine and enough room in the back for two wheels side by side. Don't know if you can run them on your setup (are your wheels still 12mm hex)? And, the much longer tail helped my Yeti to drive more stable and stop the bucking of the rear. I actually plan on stretching my wheelbase even more. Did you drives yours yet? The good: I can take the body and cage off and turn it into a stock Yeti within five minutes I might want to try your version next P.S: Funny, I looked into the Red Bull paint scheme as well - had a can of metallic blue and silver laying around here! |

Thanks to fxman for the initial inspiration on this mod. I downsized it just for the ford raptor body (my favorite truck) and more wheel option for the same reason. I am going to stick with the simple stock yeti tire mount for a single tire. I am running the 12mm hex from the scx10. There is no cutting or un-reversible mod done to get this is the good news if my heart suddenly want the original yeti back. Here is a shot of the stock cage with the slash bumper simple bolted on. This whole thing still looks very original. |
