Mine were a press fit, as they should be.

That is what I thought too. But my experience was not press fit. I felt like I needed a hammer to get mine in especially the inner bearing. I never got that in all the way. I'm gonna contact SSD about it. Just wanted to see if anyone ran into the same issue.

I received my wide axle yesterday, its very impressive. In case you were wondering how much wider the wide axle is over the stock housing: |

The more I see this axle the more that I like it. SSD listened to the drivers and eliminated the crappy stock lockouts and added bigger bearings for the pinion. There are other nice touches like an integrated truss and bearing caps, and larger axle shafts. If I didn't have so much tied up in my stock axle (Al lockouts, bearing caps, truss, beef tubes, diff cover, ) I would order one of these in a heartbeat. I may end up trying to sell my stock axle minus the lower link mounts, locker, and gears to help fund one of these. |

| Re: SSD Rear Axle The Wraith version is the same width as the stock rear axle. The Yeti version is wider than the stock axle and makes the rear width the same as the front (no more wide hubs needed for the rear wheels).

Any particular reason why the skid doesn't cover the bottom of the axle?

Want to order this through RPP but how do I know I'm getting the version with the updated stronger axle shafts?

We haven't changed the axle shafts in the product. We are currently making new HD axle shafts that will be released as an upgrade.

Ssd- I'm using a VP locker with the setscrews. Centered yeti axle, and the two shafts don't come together in the very middle for the setscrews to get purchase on. I know there's no reason to make them work with another companies product, but wouldn't it be better for them to come within a mm or half mm for maximum contact inside a spool/locker? Much less chance of a locker stripping, less chance of a failure, can't see a downside. I'd buy em. Still waiting for rpp to get those pumpkin skids in stock, missing u4 races today don't wanna hammer up my pumpkin bolts. I should of taken a picture of the two axleshafts and bearing only in at the middle to show the gap I'm talking about. |

I run the vp shafts too. They don't have the inner bearing collar to stop the from slidding in. I made a small shim that I slide into the locker to keep slight pressure on the outer bearing so I have no in and out play. It will be nice to have an hd shaft bc as much as I love the axle I bent the shaft doing donuts on grass.

Our flat end is the same as an Axial shaft so it doesn't sound like anything we should change.
