My Yeti dust shield.

Wanted to keep the dirt, rocks, mud and dust out of the chassis electronics. This will help. I used a cover from a heavy file folder. Made a template, traced it onto the plastic. Creased it at the right places and installed it using two screws. (Two is enough. It can't go anywhere.) It took some trial and error and $4.00. All together about two hours. The template was the most time consuming. Hope this helps somebody out. Electrics are too expensive not to try to protect a little.

I thought about making something like this. I'm slowly transporting the dirt from my back yard into my garage every time I clean out my Yeti. It would help if you could lay out the template you made with some measurements.

Nice job. It should work well. Looks a lot like mine. I used the bottom of a candy tin:

Ok Monkeyfist. Hope this helps.

11" long
3 1/4" tall
Crease on the dotted line
The quarter is for scale

You could copy this picture. Put it in your copy machine. Adjust the size of the copy till the quarter fits.

I've got a U4 race this weekend at Fear Farm in Arizona this weekend. I'll be able to give an effectiveness report after that. Good or bad, I'll let you know.

Effectiveness report.

U4 race. Two heats and the main. Worked pretty damn good. Motor temps were not above normal. Air temp. at time of the races was 102 degrees and the track was extremely dusty.
Some of the guys really liked it and put in orders for one. All together a complete success. It will help in keeping out some minor mud but it's not water proof.

My boy ninja turtle made me one of those a few months ago,not all the detail on the bottom that you did. Which is sweet! It has worked REAL well for me,hope it does the same for you! VERY NICE rig bro! Keep at it!

Came out lookin good! I like how it wraps around the side. Would've done the same on mine if the material was any wider. I see you gave your BFGs the KM2 cut- did the same to my 1.9s. "thumbsup"

Re: My Yeti dust shield.

if anyone is looking for an option that mounts to the body instead of the chassis, check out this thread.
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...nder-body.html

I think that will be the route i go for this fix.

Re: My Yeti dust shield.

Meh....not worried about dust in mine. lol Cool idea for those that do though. Seems like it might be hard to work on depending on what you are doing.
