Default Girlfriend Yeti....

I just bought a stripped down (roller) RTR Yeti.

Now, this build will be cheapo. It's only to accompany my K-5 Blazer on scale trails, so no high-power combo, or heavy bashing!

I want to know what kind of upgrades I NEED to have..
It's a RTR version, all plastic.

It have the STRC knuckle and hubs.
I also have , not installed, Vanquish wheel hubs front/rear
Vanquish steering bearing upgrade.

I haven't open the transmission, but I guess it have metal gear in the transmission..

So, what are the needed upgrade..?

I have a SW3 combo with a 4600kv

Is it too fast, even with the smallest pinion...?
Or I could change it for a 35/27T brushed motor!

i run a 5700kv with 16/64 gearing on 2s lipo and its pretty quick (more basher than crawler). i assume a 4600kv with similar gearing should be pretty good. enough speed to entertain yet still enough low speed to have fun on a scale run. I might be completely wrong though haha

I would say the vanquish Bell cranks. With to other upgrades you have listed it will eliminate all slop in the steering.

Not the best masking around the rim, but hey, it's just a RC

Just got out in the snow with the 4600 with a 11T pinon.. Not too fast, but no low end for scale trails.. Time to find another motor!

The bright coloured orange spray painted rims look like destruction derby style.

After my 1st run with my RTR, on 2S, the hinge pins for the a arms were pretzeled. I had to use a cutoff wheel to cut one of the pins so I could get it off.

So I put on one of these CNC Machined Aluminum Front Skid Plate/Hinge-pin mount for Yeti (Black)

I also replaced the plastic nut the pins screw into with an actual metal 4mm locknut.

I ran a set of stock hinge pins for a couple days until a set of these Carter Fab & Machine » Axial Yeti Hinge Pin Upgrade Kit showed up. When I swapped them out the stock pins were not bent in the slightest.

Since then I have run into stuff hard enough to break 3 stock knuckles and one knuckle carrier. The hinge pins are still not bent.

I have the Carter pins as well. Excellent upgrade. I ordered three sets but probably won't need the other 2. Lol

Did you scuff the wheels at all, or just shoot them?

Just shot them....

Since I don't plan on dumping money/time into this RC at the moment...
It's only to entertain the girlfriend..

I bent the carter fab pins. IMO strong arm sleeves are a necessary upgrade. they have a page on facebook.
