Default My solution for a sagging front end, dual shocks

I have a heavy Yeti due to all of the aluminum and even with the stiffest springs I was still bottoming out way to easily. I tried the Proline shock with their heavy springs but it didn't improve the situation so I got the Vanquish shock re-locator and mounted both the Icons and the Prolines with 25 weight in both. The Prolines are mounted in the normal position and the Icons are mounted on the top into the VP re-locator and at the bottom I simply put a screw into the upper bracket on the T-Bone skid plate.
It works great.

i just ordered firm springs and i rebuil tmy shocks with the traxxas rebuild kit and 45 wt fluid. Im hoping those will help together. If not Ill get the vanquish shock mount to get them more vertical, THEN is that doesnt work Im going to cut the stock springs and put a super stiff spring on top and do a dual rate setup.

What I found was that with the super stiff spring the front end rebounded too quickly and became bouncy. With the thick oil (I tried up to a 70w) the front end became too resistant to absorbing a bump resulting in again too bouncy.

With the dual setup I am running medium springs with 20w oil, I can set the droop so the axles are level to the ground and when I drop it from about 18" it just barely bottoms.

It worked great for my heavy truck, 9.5 pounds.

after reading this its got me thinking....i have the kit truck and mine came with the dual rate pistons.. i am thinking about rebuilding my fronts with the dual rate pistons tonight and back with 40wt. Ive read a lot of goof things about the RPM dual rates but they are meant for traxxas trucks. I am hoping they will help hold against impact better and still return to top quickly.

Thats what i did but the 40wt was not enough i have 45wt and dual rates with them flipped to the compression setting and they seem to be working ok .. i know im in the ballpark now and may increase to 47wt and try.

The RPM pistons are for the type of shock shaft that uses an e clip. Axial uses a nut so you may have to fiddle around a bit. I run the Axial dual rate pistons on the rear with 40wt (PL Prospecs w/32.5wt up front). Honestly, its not that big a difference vs the stock pistons. I've been sitting on a set of RPMs for a while but havent tried em yet...
