Default Esc/motor combo

Hello,

Im thinking about getting a yeti, and im wondering about the speed. Which esc/motor combo i should get?

Im going to be using it for bashing, im thinking a mamba monster x, but unsure of the motor. Ive only used roc412s before, just been crawling until now.

Since we are in on the speed subject, what gear ratio is best for speed?

This is a good question and one that despite the huge amount of research I did, I could not come up with a definitive answer. Be it right or wrong, I went with a Mamba X and CC 1512 2650kv motor. Hopefully it works well, as I will be putting mine together in the next week or two.

Well the stock motor is 3150 so 3500 probably on 3S isn't out of the question.

Much more and you'd be getting a lot more speed. I've read some guys running 4S are chewing out stuff so you'd probably want to limit the kv if you're planning a 4S setup.

I don't imagine the Yeti gets reliably much faster than stock as you need to significantly beef it up just to handle the stock power/speed. A megabuck Yeti probably handles a high kv motor on on 3S but the motor/ESC might get hot in warm weather.

A 2650 on 4S would probably be awesome or even geared up on 3S (20T pinion etc).

Default Esc/motor combo

I will tell you two motors that will give you far too much fun and power
I'm running the 30004x4 TekinHD on 3s, or the Puller Pro 540XL..... 2100 on 4s 3500 on 3s,

Hang up and Drive

To wake up the Yeti with that motor, you definitely will need 3S pack and 17T~20T pinion gear. Will get up and go with gobs of torque twist. Unfortunately I went super cheap on a few ESCs. After frying two internal BECs on another RC, I quickly yanked the Castle 2650kv out and put in my 2S setup for the Yeti. This was done in hopes the ESC doesn't follow the same path as the other bottom dollar speed controls .

Thanks for the feedback on my motor \ esc combo. I do plan on running 3s in it. I picked up a SMC 5200mah 90c 3s pack that should fit based on the dimensions posted in the sticky thread.

I put a Mamba X in a Wraith. I don't think it's much behind the Monster X though the Wraith is a lot lighter than my Yeti..

Running 1/8 sidewinder 2000kv combo in mine. 2-6s, pick your speed with the battery... Geared 18/56. No heat problems with the high gearing except on 6S, its hard on ring and pinions too....

I tend to stick with 3 or 4s for general bashing.
