Yeti Overheats with HH Puller Pro BLE XL 3500 KV

Just finished my yeti and took it out for its first real run. after about 10 mins the motor was to hot to touch. My yeti is a kit with stock gearing and no binding in the drivetrain everything turns freely like it should. I am at a loss as to why it got so hot so fast. Anyone experience overheating with this motor?

To hot to touch doesn't mean it's over heating. If your worried the best way is to buy a little temp gun. They can be bought pretty cheap online and at harbor freight

I'm fighting heat issues as well
But running the stock motor/esc.
I talked to castle and they said the motor /esc was good to 180, mine was at 159 but esc overheated, due to no bec for the savox servo. I added the castle bec and temp dropped 25 degrees and motor ran better.
That said I think this needs a 2650or 2400 Kv motor to run 3s and stay cool. When j put the tall 5.8 super swampers it went hot again I need a different motor !

Motors get hot. Especially on 3S. I've had multiple w the Yeti and all of em get hot to the touch but never exceed 160 or so degrees. So I certainly wouldn't worry about it.

Stock gear with stock pinion and spur. I will try to get a laser temp gun next time I go out and get a reading.

Skin burns at 140f, most people can't touch 120f comfortably. 180f is the max we recommend for short run/ racing, and 160f max for general use.

The yeti with stock gearing can heat things up quite a bit. It is heavy, and geared tall for getting into rocks. Be sure your ESC is set to 8k switching frequency, smart sensored mode, and 10 degrees sensorless timing. If you reset the settings to defaults it will be a pretty good profile for the rig, if you don't know where to start.

I'm running 3s on pretty much the same set up (Puller Pro 3500kv and a Trailmaster BLE Pro ESC) but with a 20t pinion and stock spur. I only put one pack through it in the snow. Just wondering if I'm in danger of burning anything out running it on 3s. Also ESC is set to factory defaults and am running a BEC.

I have the same motor with the mamba x esc and mine got up to 180 with a 16 t pin gear and it was like 40 outside. so I went down to a 14t and got it down to about 155 so I think that will work when its 90 out

I run 4S on a Puller pro XL 3500/MMX 15/64 gearing on my Yeti. My temp gun has never registered higher then 118. I do run 10ga wire with 6.5mm bullets from ESC to motor, I also run 8mm bullets from battery to ESC. I'm running stock bomber wheels/tires with CI deuces wild standards.

My yeti doesn't get crawled, more of a racer for sure

I have same problem. cant crawl more than ten minutes without esc shutting down. trail master esc and puller xl 3500kv. finally I took it out of my wraith and put into a emaxx, wich it still will run hot and shut down if I do any low speed driving. it was geared at 90 spur and 17 pinion when in my wraith
