Yeti , throttle issue
 

Hey everyone, my yeti has recently been messing up. A brief description of what's going on is when it's on the ground I have to assist it to get it moving then if I stop all it wants to do is grind. I will provide a link to a video showing the issue. So far I replaced the motor and that wasent the issue, opened up the trany housing and nothing was bad in there, then I just got done replacing the rear gears with some hd gears. Would love to hear y'all opinions on what I can do to fix it.
But if I pick the yeti up it will throttle good with the wheels spinning but ever know and then seems like the motor won't spin the clutch plate
And the steering works perfectly fine, this is a rtr model

that doesn't sound like 'grinding' it sounds more like cogging of the motor. I am suspecting an ESC that may be going bad.

couple of questions,

does it seem to have full power once it gets moving?
does it grind when it is moving or only at the start?
from a stand still what does it do if you roll the throttle on slowly to full and what does it do if you just nail the throttle wide open?

It does not get full power once it gets moving.
Only grinds at the start that's if I can actually get it to move
If I roll the throttle from slow to full it just jitters or cogs like it wants to go forward . If I nail throttle wide open it docent do anything now what so ever. I mean every now and than I'll get beeps from the motor itself. Seems like it just wants to stop but it's a brand new factory motor from axial.

I agree with 8k sounds like the ESC is the culprit

I had that, but it would stop and start, one of the receiver leads from the esc was broken due to vibration shearing the wire, when the esc shifted, wire was short down to the receiver box

Okay sweet , upgrade time on that to now haha. Should of listened to axial when I called them. Didn't thing it was the esc because once I remove the motor from the housing with the slipper clutch the motor works perfectly it seems like. I mean every now and then it would stop and act like it didn't want to do anything.

Where at in Naples do you go out to bash and stuff? I use to live on Marco Island

Thanks , guess I'll look into getting. New one. Funny how much stuff And the whole time it could be the esc

The stock ESC is a relabeled Castle SCT Sidewinder SV3, I called Castle they gave me that fact,Much cheaper to buy that vs "axial" version"thumbsup"

Only difference is the label, Castle also said both motor and ESC are good to 180

Makes sense I'm just hoping a new esc will fix the problem. Because I remember what happened when this problem started with my yeti . I let my Brice drive it and she became bottomed out or stuck on a rock and was just floring it and when it didn't budge after like a minute that's when she came and got me. Gotta love kids right lol

I had big heat issues until I put a castle bec on,my Savox loves amps

Yeah I have a bec on my rock crawler but I wouldn't think I'd need one for a rtr

stock TSX45 lasted 2 packs, Tower credited me, I had a Savox 1256tg, faster and stronger, Now I'm hunting for a stronger servo turnbuckle, I think I need a 3mm lunsford and rpm ends and a servo saver
