After ordering my Max 6 for my X-Maxx, I really like Hobbywing products. Was a huge difference in performance over stock. Plus the quality looked good too.

I saw the 1625 and thought about it for a bit. In the end, I decided I wanted a much better BEC, a lot more programmability options and not to run an ESC that is just "good enough" when I could get the 1080 for $15 more. I don't ever build good enough, especially after seeing what Axial thought was good enough for this truck. I always build with overkill and expandability in mind. The 1080 is only a couple millimeters larger in size but you get a lot more ESC. If poprivet could fit an AE-5 in his without issue, I think I'm just fine. Plus, if this whole truck ends up being a turd, I can easily drop this ESC into an SCX10 or Bomber. If I've learned one thing in this hobby it's this, It's never a bad thing to have too much ESC, especially when it's a matter of $15.

Hey everyone, I've the same issues as everyone else. Crap electronics. Already replaced the steering servo with a HS-85 and got a 2S battery for it. Now the rest of the stuff burned out. I need to get an esc and receiver fir it. I do not want to spend more money as I'm already in too far on this yeti jr but have no choice to make it run. I've read through these 23 pages but not all at once and can't remember what was suggested for this issue. What are some suggestions for a descent esc and receiver that will work with the transmitter? I was thinking about getting the tactic 326 receiver since it is lipo compatible but not sure what esc. Would that tactic receiver be fine and what ESC should I get that is a reasonable price? Thanks!

Update to my issue. When I plug the battery in and turn on the transmitter the transmitter led light will flash red every little bit. Not sure if this is because of the esc/receiver combo being bad or could that be the transmitter itself? The esc doesn't even make a noise now when plugging the battery in. I'm irritated as many of you are and frustrated with the amount of money going in to this already.

I'm waiting on you all to figure the absolute best electronics combo for the money along with reliability issues. Once you rcc hardcores give it your shakedown and feelings I think I'm gonna get one. . . .

Ordered one for my son for my son for Christmas. Got it charged up last week and ran a pack through it because of all the issues I was reading about online. Did not have any issues. This morning after opening it, my son ran a pack through it, again with no issues. Plugged a 2200mah 2s in and instantly lost reverse! And, now if you turn transmitter off it instantly goes full throttle. Bummer... Same problem with the 1300 Nimh as well now. Any ideas?? These things have to have a 90% failure rate of the factor electronics out of the box. Its a shame, the thing seems to be a ton of fun!

Did u change battery type as u switched to lipo ?
The RE20 ESC/RX has to be programmed if u change the battery type see instructions (Page 11).

Have a question, can one turn off the adjustable drag brake completely on the stock ESC .
I find that one can easily burn an ESC with drag brake on if u like to bush have done this to my AE 5 ...So for bushings I turn it off .
So my question is for ppl that have had problems and burn out the ESC was it set to be free rolling or brake on .

Yes, changed battery type per page 11. Have since tried both settings with both battery types with no change.

HobbyWing's brushed ESCs that may be valid. The weight was my selling point. Granted the programmability is awesome, it is significantly heavier. Combine that with a 3s battery up high and an RC prone to rollovers you're just adding more weight up top.

But...since I have one already and my scx10 is not drivable and awaiting a scale body I haven't chosen, I may try to swap it over tonight. I'll also see which 2s and smaller 3s I have weighs more, and fits under the interior. Then maybe mount this ESC onto the battery tray.

1080 - programmable crawler one
36.2x31.6x17.0mm
58.5g (w/Wires)

1060 (looks like an AE-5)
36.5x32.0x18.0mm
39g

1625 - for 380 motors
34.0x24.0x14.0mm
25g

I am having the same exact issue. My son is super disappointed and I'm obviously irritated. I held off the temptation of opening this gift (that I've been holding onto now since the 13th) and figured I'd let it all be a surprise for him. This was not the surprise I was hoping for. I knew I should've opened it and checked everything before giving it to him. Yes, the battery is charged. Yes I've tried a couple sets of fresh new AA transmitter batteries. There is no "binding procedure" that I can find and the transmitter red led has been flashing since the initial power up. Already sent a message to Axial but it's Christmas, I'm not expecting a response any time soon but...I'm curious to see how their customer support is.

I did change the battery type to lipo and changed it back when I tried the stock battery. I still have nothing other than a transmitter that flashes the red led every little bit.

I'd offer to send either of you my stock transmitter and the new esc axial sent me to replace the one that blew immediately on me. Both are unused.
