I put a longer can 380 from a Redcat. The can contacted in the back with the pinion I used. It can be done if you rotate the motor to the top instead of down.

How many turns is the motor?
How much of a difference in speed an motor temp?

I didn't run it. I got a pair off fleaBay for Redcat's MOA rig. I think they were billed as 40t, but I don't remember and it wasn't labeled. I put the sticker back in and called it a day. I had stripped 5 bolts and my m2.5 variety bolt bag was getting slim.

Yes it does, had to trim the bearing cap some to have enough room to get proper gear mesh.

Did u run it with that motor? How did it do speed an motor temp compared to stock? 2s or 3s?

I ran the absolute dog piss out of it on 3s. I did have to swap in a 12t pinion just because the output shaft is larger on the traxxas motor. Motor temps were good, did multiple full throttle speed runs and it was only warm. Top speed was 34.1mph but it wasn't a fresh battery so there may be just a touch more left in there.

Is the gear mesh held in place only by the top gear cover keeping the motor mount from rotating?

Yes. It's a poor design since you can't see or feel the mesh as you seat it by tightening the cover down.

it would definitely be nice if someone made a 2 piece cover so you could have a separate motor bracket

Yep. There's room for a larger spur gear, too.

Finally got the Losi pinion gears in today for my Mamba setup! I'm running the 13T, and all of the gear noise I had with the stock pinion is GONE. Definitely a relief! But a better way to adjust the mesh would be a welcome change. There's no telling what goes on in there when you tighten it down.
Haven't had it out for an actual top speed run yet, but I can only assume it's going to be pretty wild on 3S, going from 6:1 to 4.6:1. I'm ready for some rear locker action, now! I think that'll be a big improvement.

Default Axial 1/18 Yeti (and Yeti Score)

I was going to try the longer can 380 I had but I would have to rolled the motor over the top of the spur to make it clear in the back of the chassis. But then it would get tightened down into the spur and there's no way of seeing what will happen to the mesh so I went back to the short can.

The Losi 24mm brushless combo I had in there had plenty of power. It just needs less than 4500kV for low speed play.

My servo setup ..Up right , works awesome still need to trim power wires cos parts where out of my other truck that now is brushless. Also need a balloon over receiver to waterproof it .
PS run a servo sever ,will fit one later but now I have a clicking noise in the servo after a crash lol but still works way better than not working at all with crap stock electronics.
Fun truck but way over priced for us Canadians ..275 shipped sucks but it is what it is.

This is the only place i can find any decent info. I been on rcshortcourse for a while and been lurking here. Well i bought the score version. After reading through all the pages I was almost regretting my purchase before it got here. Anyway I bought all new electronics and gears before it even got here. Ups showed up yesterday late evening. Unboxed it this morning. Looks pretty impressive so far, figured I'd give it a chance with the stock set up. Charge the battery and take it for a run. Goes for about 1 min then shuts off. Thinking the battery false peaked. Hooked the battery up to my normal charger for my lipos...we will see.

Charged the battery good to go. Like others have stated slow steering. But still running on all the stock stuff.

Switched to a spare brushless setup from a losi mini 8. Found a great pinion for 2mm shaft motors- unfortunately it came with a motor, not sure where to get it separately. It's the same pitch as the stock pinion.

It's the 9t on the left. Stock center, the right one is a losi mini .5m pinion.

Here's the motor if anyone is in desperate need for the pinion. The motor might not be bad on the jr, didn't try it though. It's a bit smaller diameter.

380BL Ball Bearing Motor-A (Esky Big Lama, with 10, 11T) [EBL015] - US$9.90 : Xtreme Production Official Web Site, RC Helicopters Parts for Helicopters Accessory

I've had that pinion a while, looks like it comes with a 10 and 11t now.

I don't use this for poking around or pseudo-crawling, but jumping stuff and zipping around my track so I'm not concerned about cogging. But it felt great in my basement, not much cog with the 9t pinion.
