Default Johnny built a purple Yeti

I was about to do some upgrades to my Yeti when I thought: "Hey! My 1.9 rigs have build threads, but I don't show my 2.2s any love." Feeling sufficiently jerkish, I decided to create a thread for my purple Yeti. This is that thread, or will be once I click the "Submit New Thread" button, anyway.

There's not a whole lot to mention just yet. It's a pretty standard build from when the kit version first came out. It's purple (I may have mentioned that). There are a few stripes on it. The front diff is open (500K diff fluid). It's got a Castle MMP ESC and Tekin Pro4HD 3000kv motor for guts. Castle BEC. Spektrum receiver. CI bumper insert. HeyOK KOH rear lights. Some more lights up front. I shoved CI Deuces Wild foams into the kit tires and mounted them on Vanquish Method 105s with Carter Fab wheel wideners. I think that's about it.

The truck has held up pretty well. It's seen 2s and 3s action on the trails and just bashing around. Mostly 3s now. It doesn't get as much action as my other rigs, but I've been having more and more fun with it lately. Hence, I've decided to make a few upgrades. Even more upgrades will happen as I inevitably break things from the sense of invincibility these new parts will most certainly inspire in me. Oh, and I want to try to stop the dang wheel nuts from backing off all the time.

Shut up already. Here are a few pictures as it sits now.

Thanks for the tip. I've got another option I'm going to try. Initial testing looks promising.

Oh man, I forgot to mention that the purple Yeti has also been running the SSD wide axle kit since day one. I knew I was forgetting something!

I use double nuts, at least on the rear wheels. The second nylock nut should not have the flange.

That's the solution I'm trying out. I'm doing a regular nut with a flanged nylock nut on top.

The flange should be against the plastic (assuming plastic wheels) for strength; the flangeless nut is the locknut. They can both be Nylock.

Metal wheels in this case. I couldn't find a nylock nut thin enough to double up on the rear axles.

Got it - as long as it holds.

One time on a trail run my rear driveshaft came apart at some point and I limped back to the car with FWD. As soon as I got home I placed an order for this MIP driveshaft. The next day I retraced my steps with my SCX-10 G6 Wrangler and found the missing parts (minus a screw) and got my Yeti back up and running. It held up so well I never bothered to put on the MIP shaft. Well, it's on there now. I had the whole back end apart anyway...

I took the Purple Yeti out for a rough 'n' tumble outing a couple of weeks ago. I managed to mangle a couple of hinge pins when I started launching the rig every which way at the pump track, but it still drove home under its own power. 'Twas fun.

Lol @ your driveshaft story
I had a similar issue. Twice?
First time i was hauling it accross a park with short grass, rear sus over traveled, popped the shaft halves apart. No biggie.
Second time i was in the snow, grub screw that hold the front output shaft from the trans was like
Seeyalaterbye!!!
Never found it and i had to buy some rediculous axial part at my local shop to get it running in time for my father in laws where we both run yeti in his amazing backyard. Not missing out on that so... new screw was coated in gorilla glue lol

Been fine ever since!

Sick color combos, btw. And im jealous of your heyok koh lights. Sold out everywhere!

A little while back I picked up the Vanquish front skid in an effort to give those front hinge pins a fighting chance. I've been trailing this rig a bit lately, but nothing that would really stress the front end. Fingers crossed...

I probably should have taken this picture before I got it all scratched up. It looked really nice for a few minutes, anyway.
