SSD wide diamond rear axle

I put one of these in my recently purchased used Yeti Score TT and had problems with tight ring and pinion mesh. I ended up making a paper gasket to shim the carrier housing out whick worked fine. I thought of replacing this gasket with a small o-ring. I've looked for directions online on assembling this axle but have not found anything conclusive as to what i might have done wrong. I have to check but i don't know yet if the gears are stock or aftermarket. It seemed like they had a spiral cut to them which makes me think they're not stock. Anyway does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? Sorry if i posted this in the wrong area but i don't see a specific S.T.T. section.
