| Pros/Cons of a wider front track than rear?
I hadn't noticed until just now but one of my YETIs had a wider track width in the front than in the rear....Just curious if anyone has some knowledge to drop on me! Does this affect steering/stability/etc/etc? I should have the proper hubs to even them out but like I said...I am just curious. I read through 40 or so pages on this sub forum last night and I dont recall seeing any posts on the subject... |

Yes, the stock rear axle is narrower than the front, which is usually evened out by the use of different offset hubs f/r, as they are with factory wheels. Other than aesthetics, the wider rear track may give you a bit of stability at speed and clearance to the frame with bigger wider tires.. Hubs are the easy fix, if you have method style wheels. Alternatively, there are wide axle conversion kits from Axial and others, and full-width aftermarket replacement axles that match the front in width. |

having the front wider than the rear does have an advantage in decreasing your turning radius, but that's about the only thing I can think of.
