Post axial yeti jr. drivetrain thread

Since there is no subthread for the yeti jr. I made a few threads for different categories. This is drivetrain.(gears, driveshafts, lockers, diffs, etc)

Anyone have any tips for getting the gear mesh right? I've been stuck in a never ending cycle of setting it, screwing down the cover, finding out it's off and repeat.

I don't quite follow. The Yeti Jr. Has a little cam drum the motor mounts to. Rotating the cam adjusts the mesh. I can get it to feel great with the cover not tightened down, but never after. It seems like a micro-adjustment takes it from way too loose to way too tight.

Here's how I did mine.

Rotate the cam so that the pinion is above the spur and loose. Tighten the cover down and hope for the best. Hold it down to the ground/floor and ease into the throttle listening for any gear slippage. If none, then make some short runs around the garage listening for the sound of a tight gear mesh. If so, then set it looser and try again. I did this a few times before I got it "right". I just wish there was an aftermarket replacement for this already. But it seems the YJr. is dying off.
