The cage treatment. In hindsight, I kind of wish I would've left the rear section black.

Here's the only pic of the HR aluminum transmission case I took. Guess I got too into assembly during this part of the build. The trans and aluminum transfer case are stuffed with HD gears and marine grease. The aluminum case may have been unnecessary but I couldn't help myself.haha

Forgot to note the shocks in the suspension part of the build even though they're in some pics. Proline slash rears up front and the proline 5" XT yeti shocks out back with HR limiting straps to keep the shocks from over extending when I take flight.
Threw on a new bumper too. The old one was in bad shape and the new look deserves it.

Flatline will get it's heartbeat from a Holmes PP 3500kv XL motor backed by a Monster X esc and navigated with a Holmes HV500 servo. The beefy motor and built up trans are mated through a Robinson Racing Gen3 56t slipper and Robinson hardened 16t pinion. I'll run this combo while trying to dial in operating temps and see where it takes me. Speaking of temps, I currently have the motor fan I ran on the factory Vanguard combo installed. I ran the rtr components on a 19t/64t setup and it would heat up pretty good. Do you think I'll need the fan on the new setup? All I run is 3S but I foresee a 4S pack being thrown into this rig @ some point....anyone think I need the motor fan on the Holmes motor?

A STRC motor mount and backing plate are in there for a little support and visual flare.

A lil more of the body painting process.
Don't mind the sharpie marks. Was trying to do a tribute to my recently deceased 17 year old pup but it wasn't going to work out.

Shiftauto,Your build is awesome! Similar to what I have going on, check out " from the tub up ". It'll be a few weeks but I'm planning on Pro Puller BL 540 standard 2700kv WP and Trailmaster BLE WP ESC. SHV 500 servo already installed. I like the direct battery connection as opposed to a bec.

Thanks nosser. Cheez, this rig already had the HV500 and heyok bec so I'm reusing it. Giving the SHV a try in another rig though.

Here's the completed paint with some lightly tinted windows. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

Looking great! It appears to have gone from flatline to a heartbeat.

Here's the heads installed on the interior. This was on the bomber interior that didn't get installed but they're the same heads.

Closer and closer to the shakedown. Grabbed some VP SLW wheels for this thing. I'm very happy with how light these are. Super easy to mount tires too.

Keep the shiny side up!
Even though it's considered Super Light Weight those wheels are still about 1/2 lb.
keep us informed they work. My rig will end up very heavy, so I'll most likely go with plastic.
From what I've researched plastic w/glued wheels are most efficient for "rock racing"
But DANG! Those look sweet!

Thanks!! It's been a really fun rebuild. I've beat the piss out of this thing and now I almost want to just stare @ it on the bench!!....almost. I'll have to get some video and pics of it on its first couple runs while it's still looking good.

Luckily I've learned how to drive this thing decently. I'll keep the shiny side up as much as possible. There's gna be a bit of a learning curve with the new power plant and the fact I'm trying out some heavier weight oils as well as new rear upper link locations but that's part of the fun of this hobby. Did a test fitment with the paddles, ill have to trim a lil more of the fenders to run those. Don't be afraid of plastic wheels. I've ran them for quite some time with zero problems. I just couldn't put the beat up dirty plastics back on and the new VP wheels weren't over the top for my budget. I still have a set glued up on the rtr tires with DW single cell foams to mess with too. I'm weighing in @ 8lbs 3.6oz without a battery right now....
