Overpowering it will just make it temperamental and reveal its weaknesses like sloppy steering, flex in the suspension and chassis, and the lack of cornering ability.

And 70 mph from a stock Rustler? No way. At minimum it'll need street tires, lots of suspension tuning, beefed up parts, and extra cooling. Again, you'll ruin what it's meant to be by trying to get ridiculous speed out of it.

I don't really get the obsession with straight line speed numbers anyway. I want a truck I can drive on multiple surfaces, do some jumps, and bring home in one piece. My Yeti with a 20 mph power system in it does that. My SC10 with the 35 mph power system in it does that too on smoother surfaces. I don't twist driveshafts and strip gears every outing. And I'm sure I have just as much fun as those who do.
Total agreement.

I thought I was the only one who enjoyed 20-ish speeds from a flying pig.

The baddest motor for the Yeti is the $15 no-name 3660 4300Kv in my ride right now. That motor lets me visually enjoy all that Yeti suspension travel goodness while navigating larger than life obstacles. I can throw a 2S pack in the Yeti's belly and know that I won't be waiting for parts .

I run a Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro BL 540 XL 3500kv with a Trailmaster BLE Pro ESC. on stock 16/64 gearing it's mental on 3s. I had it on 20/64 but really it's already fast enough on stock gears.

It's hilarious that anyone would feel "disrespect" because of someone's else's opinion/thoughts about a RC vehicle being slow. Hahahahaha!!!! Dude go with the Tekin Pro4 HD 3000kv or the Holmes Hobbies motor with the Castle Monster X ESC (like mentioned previously). You will break parts so be prepared or upgrade some of the vital weak links now. Have fun!

my thought's for a yeti of cause 3s, the yeti depending on his weight it's a 3s rig..
kv should be between 3000 and 4000 kv. rest is left to gering, but i talk about 4pol +.
i wouldn't use a 2pol.
2s dr. yekill 3s mr hide i love my little monster.

1850kv pro4hd @4s , it is easy to detune.with punch control alone you can easily tune out the axle twisting launch torque while maintaing the power to go plenty fast. Run sensored and you have incredible throttle resolution for low speed.

Its easier to work with too much and detune. Than wring the neck of a motor to get every bit you can.

I actually had to cut my torque back to 50% to keep the front wheels on the ground....

Next step in beast mode HH Puller Pro R 540-L 4100kv paired with a mamba monster X. Your motor was on my list before the L came out

I'm running a mamba monster X and a tekin pro4hd 3000kv with a 45c 3s lipo. Has plenty of top speed and will do rolling back flips if your not careful (stock gearing)

With adjustable timing in sensored only mode with the tekin speed control line allows for setting up a turbo function. You have control of what rpm it starts, the power curve , and the amount of lag off full throttle that initializes the boost. It is almost literally a 2nd gear.

What made you choose this motor over the PP 3500XL? I have a Mamba X waiting to go in mine, just trying to decide on a motor

Puller Pro 4100kv "R" type 540-L vs XL series...

Per Holmes Hobbies site:

"Notes: Designed for dominating 1/10th scale U4, rock racing, endurance, G6, trail adventure, and rock crawler situations. Installs into Axial Yeti & Bomber, Losi Rock Rey, Traxxas TRX-4, and similar vehicles. Also makes 4x4 stampedes an airplane. Recommended battery 2s or 3s lipo, 3800mah 35c or greater. Recommended ESC 1/10th or 1/8th scale suitable for 4x4 vehicles. If you get your motor wet, you must clean, dry, and relube bearings to avoid damage."

I bought one to go in my overbuilt Bomber, gotta take care of a few build issues before it will be up and running.

These are supposed to give better low-speed control than the XL line of HH motors, while still being VERY fast on the top end...

The rotor is a hair larger than a XL, but not quite as long - although it's quite a bit longer than a standard 540 Puller Pro.

The R is a beast, I run one with a MMX in my Yeti on 3s and it’s brutal, but at the same time it’s super smooth at lower speeds

maybe I'm the only one with the problem, but I break enough shit with the stock vanguard system on 3s I don't need more torque or speed, I can drift it around my dew covered morning yard with ease as is.

Before the R was announced i was planning to get a XL, changed my mind after i read the description of the R after the announcement. see Durok's post
The R fit's without modification and as Curb Crawler say it's a beast on 3S
Advantage to the XL i can gear it higher (smaler pinion) for more torque without loosing top speed. And it has incredible low speed control.

Did you do anything to the motor to help with wet conditions?

Nothing special only sealed the sensor input with silicon glue.
