Default ESC Choice?

I’ve got a HH Puller Pro R 540-L 4100kv on the way to go in my Yeti, I need to decide which esc to power it with, I’ve got it down to 2.....

1 - Castle Mamba X

2 - HW XR8 SCT

Which would you choose and why?

Cheers CC

I couldn’t see the sensor cable, like you say it would be pointless to run the motor without it

4100 sounds a bit high for the heavy yeti. Be careful with your gearing and temperatures.

Mamba X, for the aux wire. Assign it to a a third channel to adjust esc parameters on the fly, or wire in parallel with the shift servo to have the drag brake turn on with the shift into low gear.

started with the mamba max pro with the stock motor and went for a mamba monster X. Was working but over heating some time, take care to choose the correct set of pinion, too high you could burn everything down.

Had to cut out the battery the tray the CC motor for 1/8 is a bit too long

Mamba X, for all the reasons DavidH mentioned. Works great with a Tekin Pro4HD in my Yeti. And I can't talk highly enough for coupling it with a 2-speed.

Started with Mamba Monster X and 2200KV...thats now in the Bomber. Running HW MAX10SCT with a 1512 2650 on 4S.

I also tried the Hobbyking 1/8th 120amp jobbie, but it wasnt reliable and would cut out at different times.

Hell yea, Mamba X and SSD 2 speed will be ordered next week, I’ve got a decent radio (DX5R) so I can do all the channel mixing easily

Still Testing right now 19/64.
But i think.it's way too fast, have 17,16,14 T in the shelf to test. First run ended after 30min with a 2wd Yeti.

X for sure. I used to hate Castle ESCs, but the X series made me do a 180°. They work well and the Auxiliary Wire is awesome.

I burnt up a couple MMM’s back in the day and them original Sidewinders were proper junk, but looks like the last couple generations of ESC’s are now sorted
