Default Diff ring gear. seems wrong?

In the manual the picture of the diff ring gear shows 2 stubs on the side towards the diff case. Both my gears have no stubs . I have only just realised what these stubs would do.they would go into the space where the spider gears axle/pin is. I presume to hold it in place? why as my ring gears not have these stubs? wont the spider gears loose contact with the ring gear?

Rear locked shouldn't matter (Axial iron cross locker), but front would should have the pins as per instructions. IIRC I've built other RCs that don't have those nubs and never a problem, because the spider gears are what really locate themselves between the side gears inside the carrier (cup) that bolts to the ring gear. Email Axial if you want to be sure, but I'd run it.

Everything is ok. In the Instructions you see the pot cast ring gear which have the 2 nippels, the kit came with HD Version which came without.

Magic yeti, Thanks for that info. I am a newb to RC cars so needed to check.
So in the manual it mentions "HD UPGRADE GEAR" so I have that part? the box does not mention that!
There is no contact info for Axial direct ONLY Horizon Hobby who have been a waste of time. They know nothing about this car .
Will continue the build now,i have got the extra parts to open the rear diff.

Yeti kit came with the HD gears, which don't have the pins on them.
Don't stress it, them not being there doesn't bother the spider gears, they locate against each other just fine.
Lots of U4 style trucks, including Yetis & shafty Monster trucks running HD gears & spider gears rather than locker & they work fine.
Biggest prob is spider gears aren't super tough, keep an eye on them.

You will never have trouble with the spider gears again if you use this,

Xtra Speed Heavy Duty Steel Differential Case for AXIAL SCX10 Wraith Yeti EXO RR10#XS-SCX22493 available at Amazon.

The ring and pinion gears still wear but you can slow that by using this in the front

,GPM Axial Yeti (AX90026) & Yeti Score (AX90050) Upgrade Parts Aluminum Front Bulkhead

and any aluminum rear axle housing. The stock rear plastic does work pretty good as long as you upgrade the bearing carriers to aluminum and keep the pinion bearings changed regularly, as in before they wear out.

The vanquish yeti bulkhead is a much better option, bigger bearings, easier maintenance and solve the hinge pin issue.

I like the looks of the Vanquish design but $100 is more than I wanted to spend.
