Buy a Yeti today with them being Discontinued?

How unique is the platform? Will parts be sourcable (ie are parts for this very specific for the Yeti? Or does it use many of the same parts the other Axial rigs use so you can just use parts for other rigs when needed?

These were sub $300.00 kits I think correct?
Why do you think Axial Discoed them? Think they are releasing a new version?
maybe a larger scale version?

So, would you buy a Yeti Today, knowing they are discontinued?

I just bought a used roller last week and ordered every upgrade for it and still cheaper then a new rock rey. My dad has the rock rey and I feel the yeti handles better out of the box and I think its the best looking truck out there

The Yeti got discontinued because they didn't sell and they didn't sell because they didn't do anything you would expect out of that type of RC particularly well. Handling, steering, climbing, crawling, jumping: the Yeti is mediocre to disappointing at all those things. Then there is the other matter adding enough power to make them remotely enjoyable to drive requires you to replace like 75% of the car with aftermarket stuff to get through a pack. They had a larger version of the Yeti (Yeti XL) and it was bigger flop than the original Yeti. Unless there is a dramatic shift back towards the 2.2 rock racer type vehicles, Horizon will be content to let the Rock Rey have that market versus bringing back the Yeti.

Most of the Yeti is sourced from other vehicles (EXO front end, AR60 rear end, transmission is mostly shared with the Bomber, trailing arms are the same as the Bomber/SMT10) so a lot of it will still be around. The front end parts are at the most risk of disappearing since they came from another vehicle that has been discontinued even longer.

With that said, I owned a highly modified Yeti and nothing about that experience would lead me to recommend a Yeti if they were still being made, much less recommend one after they have been discontinued.

Personally, I would not buy a discontinued RC.

I will second this opinion.

From personal experience, with a couple of OFNA 1/8 scale chassis back when they first started to go under. Parts support will be nil faster than you will think. Parts you can find will be expensive. Unless you plan on putting the model on a shelf and not running it ever, things will break. So I wouldn't do that again.

They just re-released the Bomber, so maybe there is hope for a new platform. Maybe something along the lines of the Campbell Enterprises Dragon Slayer chassis.

Now I would impulse buy that kit on a heart beat. Hint, hint Rich from Horizon.

i picked one up realy cheap and streatched it and added a yeti xl motor and esc and mounted a 1/6 scale newbright raptor body to it and it kicks but it handles great and jumps realy good the ballance is perfict it just needed another 3 inches to make it perform
i have the yeti xl aswell and its fun but like sead above it dosent do anything well except bounce over huge bolders at speed and look good kicking around the pits at.the king of the hammers if you dont have alot of wide open space or a full sized rock bouncer.trail to run it on you will be disapointed i have realy good rock bouncing trails in my back yard so i have alot of fun with it
i dont see any reason not to buy one but also there isent alot of reasons to buy one unless you want a independent front end and a solid axle rear for say i dont know a newbright ford raptor scaler

I bought a yeti score kit recently & I’m perfectly aware there’s few parts that will be difficult to replace but I always wanted the trophy truck. Knowing this I won’t bash the crap out of it and proactively purchased many of the upgrades I want right away. I probably could have got a UDR for the money I’m into this thing right now but I’ve been enjoying the hunt so far

I've had a SCORE Kit for two years now and I've had some issues but not enough of them to keep me from having fun with it. My Castle setup gives me plenty of punch on 3S and I've only had to replace an e-clip because of that power. As for handling, it isn't great, but I don't have the best terrain for a trophy truck in my area so I can't speak for it very well. But from what I've observed it performs mostly like a real trophy truck with a shit-ton of suspension travel and that's why I'm keeping it.

I love The look of the Yeti, it bashes really well. I have many upgrades done to it. alot of vanquish upgrades. and castle set-up. I have to say its a fun truck/crawler. For the right price its worth some rounds bashing.

I love my yeti. Its a great truck. Wish they didn't discontinued it. But like mentioned it's a truck build from other axials lucky. So as of now parts are still easy to get.
