| Re: Standalone Axial based Gearbox
Just received my Hulksta gearbox and have just put it together. The unit was packed safety and all the necessary part was there, including the motor mounting screw, because it need a 30mm one to double as one of the assemble screw. Of course except the XR10 gear. I am using just the stock gears as that what I have but also I have not heard of anyone breaking the first 3 gears, so I guess it is the way to go, plus there are about the same weight as the LW one (unless you mill the gears). The bearing is a tight fit on the plate, there is no freeplay at all. The long titanium shaft does need a bit of attention because it is a wee bit too big to the bearing, I use 180 grit sandpaper and a drill to take that little bit off and the shaft went in with no drama. It spins very smooth and I have yet to apply any grease yet. Just a few pic on the finished product.... Comparison of the stock AX10 gearbox, you can the profile is much lower and the gear box is much compact. It should do a lot of good to the CG of the rig. Finally is the weight of the gearbox.... That is with stock XR10 gears and Ti and Ally screws, there are a few gram there to shave off if you use LW gear or mill them... Compare to my AX10 GB with most of the LW options (Ti top shafts, no slipper, 32p 56T spur, HR alloy gears, Al screws where applicable)... Its about 1-1.5 oz saving and a much lower cg to boost..... I have a mockup into my Ringer chassis and I think I can make it fit. Thanks Hulksta.... Last edited by Colgout; 12-16-2013 at 10:02 PM. |

Man that thing is tiny compared to the stock trans. Will want to see how they hold up Dave. I might have to invest in some ax10 axles.

Hi guys, Real sorry for the late reply, after the wife wrote her car off on a kangaroo ive been looking for a car to get her misses back to work, found the right car after looking at many time wasters 3days before xmas then had to do the mad xmas shop because we spent time we was planning on shopping for the kids xmas gifts looking for a car, ive then had to spend xmas with my family and the visiting relo's over the last week... It explains why ive been absent from RCC, but now life can return to normal Im cutting parts as I reply to the shit loads of PM's ive got and start taking orders for the next lot at the $55 pricing because of the delay So if I haven't replied to your PM yet you will hear from me soon Hope you all had a great Christmas and get the chance for a few new years drinks with friends |

Oh all of the last orders made the mail apart from one but I have informed him, so everyone should have their GB or shouldn't be far off (xmas can slow mail down) Please share pics of builds with us guys, im keen to see the creative ways you may mount them and im sure it will help the less experienced with theirs |

Ok guys, the last batch I did I slipped up and used an old file to cnc.. I was lucky to catch it before packing but I had to recut a bunch of plates running me at a loss... So I've got a lot of useless nice looking CF plates I was about to toss in the bin when the misses said give them away as key rings! Cool idea I'm going to give these away to customers, if you want a cool key ring let me know to add it to your order! If you have bought a GB and know someone ordering LMK to toss it in with their order for you to grab off them. Happy New Years guys! |
