| Re: JC Auto Design - SCX10/AX10 Axle Truss, Panhard and CMS options The RULRs can be made from the new material, but I haven't priced them out just yet... they may end up being more than the steel versions.

I've updated the first page with the links to the new material and options. Now these will be made from natural (white) Nylon. I've also added the servo mount option as posted above, along with updated combo options. I'll update the pictures soon to reflect the different options. I'm also working on the dye process to show how to do this yourself, as well as offer different color options very soon. |

Trying out some dyeing: Looks pretty good. Dye takes very well, although this was about 20ish minutes of soaking in the boiling dye-bath. There are other colors possible, but I wanted to try black first to get started. It's a messy process if you aren't careful, and if I offered the service, I'm not sure how much extra I would charge yet. |

I had great adhesion with Krylon Fusion for plastics on the ABS mounts. I wonder if it will work on the nylon? Pictures are pretty grainy. Szczerba's Comanche |

I have yet to see a Delrin version of this truss, so there is not one to compare it to. (Would be prohibitively expensive to machine this design because of the off-axis holes, undercuts and geometry...) The nylon version should be stronger than the ABS version, but there are test units out and about to confirm that. I should hear back soon on results. Quote:

Just ordered front and rear trusses and a set of the clearance RULR's. I put in the special instructions that I need the servo on axle option for the front one. |

One thing to note for other orders. For the combo, there's a drop-down option before you add the combo to your cart that lets you specify what type of truss you would like for the front. If you forget, the default is 4-link, and you will be sent two of those trusses. If you have already checked out, send me a PM, and I will make sure to update the order for the right truss. Thanks!

OK, so a few notes so far.... the nylon takes the dye very well but doesn't hold machine threads at all well. Plan on using a pair of M3X20's with nylocks for the inner attachment points or use tapping screws. The outer mounting points have two screw holes instead of the stock one hole and a molded pin. The extra holes will require two additional M3X6's per axle. The links are no longer held with one screw, instead you will need (2) M3X15's for the 4 link. (probably a good idea to use tapping screws here because there's no back side to put a nut on.. that sounded kinda dirty just then) For the RULR's you will need two M3X16's with nylocks to attach the links to them. Speaking of links.. installing the truss and RULR's makes the uppers way too long. So long that it actually inverted my driveshaft angle. Not a big deal for me, my uppers links were already a custom length so they will just get re-customized but it bears mentioning. I will get some pics up in a while. |

The hole sizes are meant for M3 thread, but as you said, it's better to use "coarse" thread screws or back them up with locknuts where appropriate. For the upper link mounts, because of the double shear, you can get away with M3 thread. Also, regarding pinion angle, that is an important piece to note; the RULRs or Trusses individually increase your pinion angle, and together they become more than recommended, so if you are installing both, I recommend shortening your upper links to correct for that.

I shortened the upper links by 8mm. It's still not quite back to where I had it but it's close. If one was starting from the stock lengths, it'd be just about right. |
