Why is my motor so close to my driveline?

For starters its a closed can motor. No angle to the end bell. That alone would fix it. There are many variables though. Position and pinion angle of the front axle will change the location of he driveline. You want it to be close though, if there was extra room, I would have lowered the mount more for better performance.it's a tight fit, but that means your as low as possible. A serviceable motor will give you more room to go lower, thus a better performing rig.

Ran my TZ build Friday night at Lets Go Racing in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was awesome! Got some Kudos from some of the guys. Definitely worth the money, time, grinding, and effort. Thanks for the innovation!

So I just received my order and it is the G10 version of this LCG mount. Any instruction sets out there on how this goes together? Can't seem to find any thing..

Little piece goes in the middle, then you can put in one of the motor mount screws to hold it together. From there insert the brass pieces making sure the screw holes face outward towards the chassis. I put the motor plate on last.

Try this also, keep in mind I have my mount reversed to have the motor on the right side of the chassis.

New lightweight motor mount

Choose which side you want to mount the motor (most people mount it so that the motor hugs the left frame rail) and then assemble with an Axial motor plate (aftermarket motor plates will also work)

And another shot because ToyZuki

Install it in the two vertical holes just aft of the front shock tower, noting that the motor plate should be in front

Thanks guys! Very helpful.. Are you finding that you have to clearance the motor plate to keep it from hitting the axle housing? Sorry, I'm sure that info is out there but my eyes are tired from reading through all these threads. Also haven't set up suspension yet so not sure where the motor plate will end up at full compression.. Thank you!

I marked mine out for modification, but then installed the motor and associated geartrain (18t 48p pinion, 87t 48p spur) and the motor was pretty well at the bottom of the motor plate anyways.

Personally, I'm going to build mine up un-modified, and if I run into the plate hitting the axle, then I'll likely install some spacers on the shock shafts.

Brass pins, huh, interesting.

Plate hitting the axle isn't a bad thing. Rather it hit the motor plate, than hit the motor and screw up your mesh on a hard landing. Shouldn't compress both sides at the same time crawling, but just in case, don't take to much off the motor plate.

I cut a little off my motor plate.

I shaved my motor plate, but I'm running a 400 sized motor.

I'd probably just leave the motor plate uncut with a 540 sized motor.

I'm sure you've got it assembled by now, but you can reference this:

Does anyone know what size bearings i need for this mount? The last one i ordered was the metal version and that one came with bearings. I received the new style mount a week ago but there are no bearings with it. I wish i had known so i could have ordered the bearings at the same time.

I sent ToyZuki a PM on the 5th but never received a response.

Ordered mine a few days ago no tracking number yet but I'm not worried! I can't wait. Has anybody ever mounted one of these in the rear of any vehicle? I'm trying to put this in a scale rock racer in building. So I can have a full interior

ToyZuki is putting in long hours and losing his mind! Pm me your address amd I'll shoot you some bearings in the mail! They are 5x11x4, same as the axle bearings, but they should have been in the bag.

Thumbs up Re: ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

Am I getting the new non aluminum version if I ordered mine this week? Also about rear mounting for racing? Has anyone tried it? Seems like a great product by the way!

The new style is for the flat rail chassis and mounts different. The aluminum ones are for the c channel chassis. If you clicked the button, there's an aluminum one in the mail. Anything without a button is a special order until I get enough inventory to put it on the market! Trying to keep up on life and get a handle on a new cutting table. Waterjet shop has been sitting on my order for over 4 months, and my composite guy couldn't keep up with production and pulled the plug. I'm struggling to survive right now, but all things lead to a stronger, better buisiness. Soon as I get a handle on the new machine and new software, life will be good, with tons of new products and no more middle man controlling my inventory.
