ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

ToyZuki's Fabrication is excited to release
a cool new upgrade for the scx10

This is a new spin on moving your motor weight forward to achieve front bias weight and gain more room for interior!
The difference is this one also moves the weight of the motor lower in the chassis than the stock location, plus you get to reuse all of your stock parts keeping it cheap and reliable!

A 3 link/panhard kit is required to use this set up.

You will receive a ToyZuki's Fabrication LGC motor mount, 2 5x11x4 bearings from Fasteddy, and all the nuts and bolts to make it happen!

Installation instructions here
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/gener...ml#post4703552
Also here's a video installation from Harley Designs. A little more tools required this way, but I like the through pins in the shafts

Sorry I'm new to being a vendor and I'm not sure how to even attempt shipping over seas or shipping over the borders. Hopefully I'll get it figured out soon and be able to offer these worldwide! Thank you for your patience!

Glad you are geting these out to the masses. I really like the mount, it works leaps and bounds better than my old forward mount motor set up.

Best part is a additional transfer case isnt needed"thumbsup"

PS I need YOUR ADDRESS, so I can ship those goodies over to you.

Nice ingenuity.

How is the suspension uptravel? Looks like the motor is pretty close to the driveshaft from the side view. Any top views with the motor installed?

Here you go! This is on another rig running hand bros cms. Don't look at the mill marks, this one wasn't finished when I put it to work!! The suspension travels just as much as it did before with the cms installed.

I'm using this set up with so little preload in the front springs that the axle is against the 3 link and the motor is not hitting anything.

I love this set up!!!!!!

Thanks for the pictures. I saw your other thread too. Any issues with the open pinion/spur gear mesh on he bottom side of the chassis? Debris, mud, water, etc.

Re: ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

Haven't had any issues yet! Its been through a few comps and snow runs. I imagine a mud pit wouldn't like it to much!

Maybe somebody with one of those new fangled 3d printers can print a gear cover , "thumbsup"

Re: ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

Been playing with the blue monkey kit and it looks like its gonna work. I'll have to drill 2 holes in the chassis for sure. The non slipper set up isn't going to work unless I modify monkeys servo plate a little. Before I do that I'm going to put the slipper set up in and see if it clears. So far the only problem I'm running into is monkeys upper link mount since its designed to put the upper link on the drivers side, but if it takes creating an extra little bracket for that, it just means I get to create a new part :ror:

The spur/pinion is actually in a better protected spot since the tires dont throw debis all over them

Good call!

30 minutes later..

a hack saw, file, and a drill.

I cut up a piece of aluminum channel for an ugly quick 3 upper link mount!!

Also a few shims on the slipper shaft before you slide it in the bearings and the clearance issue goes away!

Re: ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

Here's my cheesy little bracket installed! of coarse this is just a quick throw together that anybody can do but, if theres enough interest in needing a bracket like this I'm sure I could come up with something prettier.

As far as all the travel questions go, here's a drooped and compressed pic on the blue monkey'd rig. Kinda hard holding it and taking a pic but you get the idea! I'll set up my white back drop tomorrow after I get the JC auto 3 link rig finished and show the travel of both!!

Hard to tell in the pictures, is there plenty of clearance for us guys running 550 motors?

ToyZuki 03-11-2014 07:08 AM

Re: ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

Not sure! I'll throw a few different motors in tonight and see. Only place it would hit is the drive shaft but lengthening the wb would change the location of it. I'll try a few tonight. What motor are you running? A closed can like a 12t traxxas or a pro4 style?

Re: ToyZuki's Fabrication Low Center of Gravity Motor Mount

I'd guess people use the titan 21t. At least I do.

I don't think the clearances are a problem. It'd be easy to fabricate a bracket to move the motor mount above the chassis rails.

As I posted in the installation thread. I really need two of these. This is just what I have been looking for. Motor and pinion and spur up front. Rest of the gearbox as a transferbox in the middle.

So when you get the international shipping figured out I'll take two of these.

Its a closed can style
